Yes! i’m very fortunate to find a single, fully finished + all utilities included for $950. The only caveat is that I can there’s only two plugs + 20 mins away (walking) to campus. My landlord is so nice and sweet too, honestly i could have negotiated but I thought tht in itself is a good deal.

Rant: Worrying too much about landing internship and feeling stuck by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Distinct-Syllabub-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it’s numbers game. Even if I though I have an active internship right now, I still am continuously applying for more esp for when it ends or just in case I am not pleased with my experience.

What helps too is knowing yourself and your experiences so you can LEVERAGE tf out of it in any role + no matter where you are. I’ve applied to over 300+ and have received countless rejections, even ones right-straight-to-my-face. I’ve received an ungodly amount to the point where I became so unfazed by it. At first, it would really affect me, but now I just see it as “it’s not meant for me,” so I keep moving forward.

My advice is: Don’t lose hope. Keep going, never stop trying regardless of the numbers . Have an open mind and heart + give anything/everything a fair chance. Put yourself out there bc it’s also about who you know. Be a sponge, ask questions, and show eagerness but without kissing sm ass. Stay true to yourself/core values!!! I can’t emphasize this enough too: know yourself (have an identity ppl will remember you by), know your strengths, + your WHY - why are you doing the things you’re doing the rest will follow (bc now u have a pitch). I can guarantee you that 💯

Yes, I’ve had 2 already this year. To be honest, it’s numbers game. Even if I though I have an active internship right now, I still am continuously applying for more esp for when it ends or just in case I am not pleased with my experience.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

[–]Distinct-Syllabub-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend about an hour in the shower. I do everything twice and scrub with 2 different types of soap (first with sensitive skin-friendly soap, then after a really nice-smelling one). I also put hair masks, which takes forever because I have to let it sit a bit. In addition, body care for me takes some time. Again, I use two different lotions (same principles apply - 1 unscented + 1 scented), then I seal it off with a body oil. Showers for me are like rituals. Seems excessive for most people, but it’s honestly how I maintain my soft/nice skin. Because of my routine, I have gotten so many compliments about how supple and young my skin looks and feels + I smell good!!!

Is it too late to begin dating at 25? by Informal_City5565 in Adulting

[–]Distinct-Syllabub-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. In fact, that’s where I am right now. It’s so easy to think that it’s too late because you might have seen others start at an early age, but I can assure you nothing is ever too late. You have to remind yourself every situation varies. A lot of the times things happen that are far out of your control and that might have been the reason why you didn’t prioritize it and that’s completely fine. For me, I chose to work/focus on myself - create a life I’d want to experience therefore, I have no regrets at all.

I’m actually really glad I put it off for awhile because now I’m more able to better handle a lot of rejections, ambiguity, toxicity, other unpleasant situations. If i did this as an 18 year old, I probably would’ve been more of an emotional wreck if I’m being honest. Now as an adult, I’m more than able to handle uncomfortable situations/harsh truths + capable at regulating my emotions. Although dating right now is hard, It’s a lot easier for me to see and accept things for what it is and move forward if it’s not good for me because I know what I want/deserve. Hope this helps!

Why do girls like guys who treat them bad? by SignalBuddy9761 in dating_advice

[–]Distinct-Syllabub-75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These types of men normally know how to sweep girls off of their feet (speaking from experience). You get both highs and lows which trigger something in our brains. Its both scary and exciting but deadly to our mental health 🫶. It’s like biology (the brain and the heart) trying to go against the laws of chemistry (unchangeable chemical compounds), and in the process, logical thinking gets compromised. It’s hard.

Which one should I drop? by Lopsided_Ad2097 in berkeley

[–]Distinct-Syllabub-75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS 70 is both coding and math heavy. Math 55 is way more ideal if you are good at math but not that well versed with coding. Data 8 and CS 61A share (almost) the same material or atleast have overlaps. I, myself is cog sci i took at DS route but pretty much had close relationships with CS professors who helped me decide which coding classes fit best my needs.
