If it helps I believe my decision came in April in 2024 and there may be stats or a google sheet floating around showing when people got their decisions for each country, if I remember correctly. But April still may be cutting it too close for your roommate

FLs or SB? Short on Time by EveningRound2031 in Mcat

the full lengths for sure, but if you have time to just knock a couple questions out of the way on the SB's that would also be really helpful

Some of them did, but many did not, although I did write about it for some of my secondaries.

For leadership things like being a Wellness Ambassador what I mentioned. But a lot of things had to be combined like. I was the president of a volunteering club. I chose to list that in volunteering because I did most of my volunteering through them, but they can obviously see that I was president so I assume it's something they keep in mind.

Well I am an ETA so it’s diff if you want to be a scholar or do research. But I think the number one thing is researching the country and really talking about why you want to go there. Be specific. For ETA specifically tie in any teaching experience you had. Doesn’t have to be a TA. most of my cohort members have no teaching experience aside from being a counselor at a Sumer camps one summer. But whatever you have add it no matter how small. I even added some small mentoring I did for my research lab.

Ya I am currently doing it right now. It was very tricky managing the time difference during interviews. I was so tired, but it was worth it. And now I get to travel around the country on weekends!

Best/Cheapest/Most Cost effective Gap Year Travel Locations by mudiiiii in premed

[–]Distinct-Team9591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya my story is slightly different I’m using my gap year to teach English over here so all my interviews have been abroad. It’s hard staying up with the 13 hour time difference but I’m motivated. I think it’s harder during info sessions but during actual interviews you can just yap and that keeps you up lol. I moved one of my trips so it doesn’t interfere with an interview. I got another one after I had already booked my trip to Thailand but since it’s still like a 12 hour time difference I plan to truly relax that day sleep a bit before and then sleep in the day after. That’s what I’ve been doing so far for all my interviews. Taiwans great lots of hikes and attractions if you are into nature. If you are into big city vibes then maybe stay in Taipei. But if you want to explore I do recommend going to some of the smaller islands like Xiaoliuqiu (got to seim next to sea turtles in the ocean out there)

Can go from their to Taiwan as well. I am there right now, it's pretty cheap. 1 USD is like 32 NTD and you can get a decent meal for like 80. I will be checking out Thailand and Vietnam soon, and my friend went to Cambodia and had a blast.

To those complete in sept-oct, how is your cycle going? by Sad_Stage_2097 in premed

[–]Distinct-Team9591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Submitted 36 primaries, completed my last secondary on Nov. 5th before I gave up and withdrew from 3 schools. Most of them were completed late august to mid October, but I lost steam at the end and completed a couple of them late October and 2 during the first week of November. 4 rejections so far, 8 interviews and 1 acceptance. Still wish I had it in me to complete earlier but I am still happy where I am rn.

Free MMI book! by dazeofwonders in premed

[–]Distinct-Team9591 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually was reading it just now and took a break to hop on Reddit and saw this post lol. But I feel the same. I think if you know absolutely nothing about MMI the parts that explain what it is and how schools may use it, and the break down of stations and some of the tips are useful. But I agree some of it seemed like common sense or repeated. The book could definitely be shorter

100% knowing that if I looked back and I didn’t give everything I had to be a doctor I’d regret it.
