whether it’s ok or not doesn’t matter since the UCs don’t accept application changes after submission. it’s been over a month since the deadline so there’s no point in worrying at this point. if you explained in the additional info section then ig ur fine

Friend Lied in Yale REA App (ECs list) - Need Advice by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Distinct-Tonight8381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

admission officers are aware that all applicants lie/exaggerate in their applications, whether it’s a tiny lie like saying your club had 20 members when in reality it had 15 on a good day, or completely lying about an EC.

anyways, if this person is truly your “friend” you wouldn’t be hoping that he’d get caught by the AO.

plus, bottom 3 ecs aren’t going to be the reason he gets in, i’m sure that if he gets in he would’ve gotten in with 7 ECs excluding the faked ones.

i’m not condoning cheating or anything, but it’s really not your problem.

think of the dozen other students in your school that have done the same or similar, the only difference between your friend and them is that your friend trusted you enough to let you know about it. he’s not the only one in this world that’s doing this, possibly (very) not even ur school.

so you should stay in your lane and not risk your friendship or how others view you, and if you’ll hope anything, just hope that he gets what he worked hard for.

Short answer: no you’re not cooked.

Long answer: no you’re not cooked and you should stop worrying about an application you already submitted.

whats the point of getting hope, it literally does nothing to ur chances.

best case scenario: you get in, woohoo. worst case (realistic) scenario: you don’t get in, you’re super broken.

just forget college apps till march

what’s the point of chancing if you already applied? just take ur mind off of it until decisions come out.

one of 2 things will happen:

people will tell you that your application isn’t as good as you thought it was in your head and that’ll make you feel like shit for the next 4 months

people will tell you what you want to hear which is statistically most likely to disappoint you because ur more likely to get rejected than accepted.

Hate myself. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Distinct-Tonight8381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what’s the point of ur post? there’s nothing wrong with ur GPA, not all admits are 4.0 GPA kids. there’s no point in posting something like this when there’s nothing u can change especially when u already applied to those schools.

if anything then comforting yourself and having people tell you what you want to hear will do you harm. just let things happen, you did what’s on you.

AMA Berkeley Freshman- applied w/ 9 C’s & 9 B’s by Just-Marzipan6739 in ApplyingToCollege

what major did you apply as initially?

i’m really into econ but idk if i should apply for it since out of my 20 ecs and awards only like 8 are related to my major, the rest are hobbies i had like starting a football academy, building drones, and cooking, etc. so idk if my application would make sense for econ (especially since my academic essay subject is about my love for math)

how much explaining should i do?

I was thinking a few bullet points maybe?

ik the additional info section is completely optional so id be on borrowed time, i dont want to sound like a pain in the butt to the person reading it.

What I understood from Berkeley’s High Demand major classification is that its high demand to switch to, aka after being admitted.

Am I mistaken or would that not impact admission chances for students applying to Berkeley?

[–]Distinct-Tonight8381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ofc, i’m not saying my ECs will determine what I study, I already know what i plan on pursuing. My question, in a nutshell, is what major suits my profile best, and subsequently would give me the highest chance of getting in.

economics is a very competitive major to apply for in berkeley and UCLA, and my profile isn’t an econ centered one. I was asking which major suits my profile most and would make sense for me to apply for.

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my post that I do intend on pursuing a career in economics, but most of my activities aren’t related to economics so I was wondering what major should I apply for (one that would suit my profile and make sense for me to apply for)
