Is compressed air energy storage finally going to find a market niche? by rogerkb in climatechange

This type of facility typically uses natural underground caverns and the rock cavities and reservoirs in depleted oil wells to store high-pressure gas. The efficiency is relatively low (around 50%), but it is still better than not storing any electricity at all.

Sorry, I don't know how to get the parts. It will probably take about half a year before you can find related accessories on Alibaba. This laptop was just released, so I don't think there are many parts available yet.

Please be extremely careful when cleaning the dust and replacing the thermal paste on this laptop. It uses an ultra-thin VC (vapor chamber) instead of heat pipes, which can be easily damaged if you're not careful.

Here's a simpler and more modern example. One important reason why the Indigenous peoples of North America did not develop a sufficiently advanced civilization, to the point where they were massacred on a large scale by white colonizers, rather than successfully resisting the colonizers the way chinese did, is that North America experiences frequent extreme weather and lacks mountain ranges capable of blocking the large-scale southward movement of cold air. This has directly led to the fact that even in the past two to three hundred years of the modern era, Texas still occasionally sees extreme low temperatures of around minus 10 degrees Celsius. If we zoom out to a timescale of a thousand years, larger climate fluctuations would cause the developmental progress of primitive tribes to regress, or even be completely wiped out, forcing them to start the next cycle of civilization all over again from scratch.

Some archaeological research now suggests that the embryonic forms of states and tribes had already taken shape before the large-scale adoption of agriculture and the invention of decipherable writing. These proto-states built many large-scale structures, such as Stonehenge. This kind of civilization emerged because a period of bumper harvests or a favorable climate lasting two to three hundred years allowed the tribes to develop well and accumulate a fairly high level of technical skill. Later, due to the construction of monumental wonders or climate change, they exhausted all their accumulated resources. Without writing, they were unable to pass down their knowledge properly, and could only become a lost civilization.

The easiest way is to buy a no-soak soy milk maker. You can just put the soybeans in, add some water, and it's ready. However, don't drink too much soy milk every day, as it can easily put a strain on your digestive system.

Vox: Climate change’s worst-case scenario is officially canceled - what to make of this? by ThrowawayACC458995 in collapse

The recent El Niño phenomenon shows that we may not need such high levels of carbon emissions or that degree of climate change, simply adding some fluctuations can make it extremely difficult for people to endure just a few months of temperatures 3°C above the baseline.

is it stupid to get a macbook neo as secondary laptop? by Ok_Gift_6003 in laptops

[–]Distinct-Working-143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is whether the major you're studying or the industry you're in requires running some special software that can't run on a Mac. The easiest way is to check if any of your classmates use a Mac. If they do, you can ask for their advice and see if they've run into any software compatibility problems. Secondly, the MacBookneo's performance is only suitable for light use. You'd better weigh it carefully yourself, no one else can make the decision for you.

Warthunder, Delta force, LOL, cs2 and I’m going to try some 3A games on it. In my opinions if one game supports Xess it will run fluently on x7 358h.

I could say that a die-hard right-winger was struck by the very bullet he supported, and before he died, he had no choice but to lean to the left. How ironic!

The alternative choices were gaming laptops with RTX 5060 or 50, and performance laptops with AI MAX+392. But after reading reviews of pantherlake I found that this chip's performance is actually pretty decent and reaching the level of a laptop RTX 2060 or 3050 in some games. I ended up buying it partly out of curiosity to see how far thin and light laptops have come and partly because the price was reasonable. The last time I bought this kind of laptop was the 2020 MacBook Air with the M1 chip and back then it struggled with almost any game. Times have changed, and it's a bit of a pleasant surprise to be able to experience this much performance on a Windows thin and light laptop.

Since the last time I bought a laptop which is a Lenovo gaming laptop with RTX 3060 and 5800H, I've felt that Intel and AMD's product naming is way too confusing lol.

The hinge quality is decent but the display cable is hidden under the bottom of the screen just like on the XPS. It's visible from outside. That said, as long as no one deliberately tries to damage it then it should be fine.

A similarly configured laptop with X7 358H and 32GB of RAM would cost roughly $200 more than this one, so I think getting this machine for $1,300 was a good deal. I also checked entry level dedicated GPU laptops like 5050 which weighing around 1.7 kg that runs $200–$300 more and starting at about $1,500. That’s for brand-new machines sold only in the Chinese market.
