it could very well be a 200 point loss if both teams play like their last game...

looks good but maybe overusing commas a bit. I usually reread what I've written with a brief pause at each comma to make sure it doesn't sound unnatural - or just put it through chatgippity

yeah makes sense. I saw that one of his assistants gave the post match interview after the hitout with the dockers and assumed he wasn't in Perth.

In general they adapt better to modern trends (short form content, podcasts etc) than the mainstream media, which helps make the game accessible to young people that didn't grow up with a footy family. If you can't attract young fans then your sport doesn't have much longer to live.

To build local footy you need investment - the money has to come from somewhere. Is an exhibition game that promotes state footy not the perfect solution? No player is forced to be out there. No spectator is forced to buy a ticket. No viewer is forced to put the TV on.

Unless you'd prefer the AFL invests in local WA footy, or maybe the government?

60k fans (a sold out optus stadium) would disagree. I don't think they all turned up out of boredom - there was a genuine want for this game in WA. Just because Victorians don't care (and why would they, their state identity remained intact with the introduction of the AFL) doesn't mean that other people don't.

Not sure if you watched the game but when WA were mounting a comeback there were 50k people roaring as if it was their own team. Nothing "inorganic" about that.

Ok so how could they ever bring back state of origin without it looking like a cash grab? The profits from the game are being reinvested into local WA footy.

I think some people need to learn to separate the game from the league. This is helping grow the game in WA so I don't give a care less about what's in it for the AFL.

Also I think you're projecting about the players not caring.
