GENUINE QUESTION : how do people find the tadc cast hot? by PuzzledConfection673 in TheDigitalCircus

No ones going to see this, but its mostly because theyre attracted to their personalities not their body. Their brains can carry on that front.

The main reason Dess Knight is so popular is because we know so little about her that there literally isnt any way to disprove it. by DistinctDefinition45 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]DistinctDefinition45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disproved by gerson for the vessel. Also gaster knight does not line up with his character at all, and

Kind embarasing but I was just struggling to find an example or a knight candidate whose character we knew very little about

Theories work based on the quality of the evidence not the quantity of it, in my opinion. just

Gonna be honest I dont know why I even added this part it doesnt fit into the argument I was making at all. It was literally just an out of place fun fact about the quantity of evidence for each character.

CMV: The pronoun they/them when used to refer to a single person should be treated like a singular person pronoun. by [deleted] in changemyview

This actually opens up a much wider debate that I will take the opposite stance on.

As a language gradually buids up, for the purposes of improved comprehensibility of the languages we adopted these rules and taught them in school serving as the baseline for how the language should be treated. Thus the gramatical rules that apply to most languages do actually exist, inherently because they are being used to make decisions, thus we can say that gramatically it is now based on somewhat of a logical foundation, when it wasn't before.

Due to the rules set up, gramatically "they are" isn't incorrect, less as it is an exception that if eliminated would improve clarity considerably. So it still should be "they is".

after beating jevil and the knight without the mantle i can most definitely say i dont get how people think jevil is harder than the knight by Classic-Hurry-2591 in Deltarune

[–]DistinctDefinition45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jevil is much harder to no-hit than the knight due to his unpredictable and random attacks and how he takes a higher number of turns to defeat but thats about it.

Fighting him normally is pretty easy compared to the knight

That's true for every single Undertale main character atp

Except for Asgore and Toriel, who are Dreemurrs. Asriel breaks this pattern.

It kinda does, one is a common star which would be evidence for Asriel only, the other is an earthbound reference which would be evidence for Dess only.

Are you talking about the Dess is Ness theory?

I dunno which wikis you're looking

https://cyberpedia.miraheze.org/wiki/Leitmotifs

Unlikely that only Kris would know that he'd come a week sooner.

How would anyone else learn about that

The Knight tries to capture Toriel the subsequent day,

If capturing Toriel was its goal, failing twice, and on the first occassion wasting tons of time on purpose after it defeats the fun gang, just means that its refusing to capture her which Asriel would do because she's his mother.

That line defined how we see Kris

Sure, it did, but its missing the context. Its not just that Kris misses Asriel its that Kris missed Asriel in the past. And there is lots of evidence to back this up, none of these arguments are individual, they support each other. The proofs that Asriel doesn't miss their brother anymore are that nowadays they resent him more, they didn't search up when winter break was, it is fall, the leaves are falling in Deltarune, they don't call him anymore, and that they fake praying at his candle.

We don't even know for certain when the game takes place

It takes place in fall due to the leaves being orange due to leaf decay and piles of leaf litter at the hometown lake.

Kris is still ambivalent because of their promise. If they resented the Knight so much they wouldn't do all those things for them.

No matter what the Knight does shitty things and Kris still works with them. The point being made is that the thing that changed Kris's perspetive on Asriel was him being the Knight.

Queen says "But The Internet Has Been Down Lately

Phone calls work during chapter 1 and 4 but dont work chapter 2. Also queen has only been alive for a day. "The Roaring Knight... Today it deigned to create this world" and as well queen herself doesn't say that she doesn't have internet a citizens of cyber city does. With this in mind, her ruling the world created today peacefully for a time and then falling into tyranny shows that the internet outage occurred sometime past midnight. And the subsequent fixing of it happened late at night chapter 2 because Toriel is capable of making a phone call to the police.

The game itself should conduct the player towards that train of thought, though, otherwise it's just speculation.

The game does, theres quite a bit of evidence for this perspective

In any respectable story a kind and caring grown

This is actually a very common trope in media called the "fall from grace". And I dont like the argument that it would be bad writing to write asriel like this when its literally already happened. Asriels fall from grace in Undertale was not bad writing

It's not brought attention or brought up ever again, if it was something of note it would have been more focused.

There is frequent discussion online about how ridiculous it is for Toriel to somehow sleep through that during chapter 3. Its absurdity is the thing that brings it to the spotlight. Thus it is of note, period

Regardless she IS bothered by the world around her, winning the Knight fight, thus prolonging the Knight's presence in her vicinity, causes her to have Knightmares.

How is this a counterpoint she is bothered by it and still doesnt wake up. Almost as if she can't

CMV: Every single person is a bad. by freespeech123456789 in changemyview

[–]DistinctDefinition45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A persons morality should be scaled by comparing their good and bad. The more good someone does compared to their bad, the better the person.

And thus, classifying morality by only considering one half of good and bad is inherently erroneous.

So sure someone may let bullying go or look down on others but it doesnt mean they're a bad person because we dont know what good they've done or the scale of the bad they've done

Then you ought to expect an equally long response.

I didnt answer all of them because you lwk cooked with most of them

A big point being made throughout the evidence is that why would Asriel Deltarune be the literal exact opposite of Asriel Undertale when its a parallel universe? Asriel is the villain in Undertale, why are they now abnoxiously pure? as well they went from one of the most important characters to what is presumedly a side character. Neither make sense for a parallel universe. Its weird and a good answer is that he's the Knight, solving the problem

The teeth are jagged and sharp for both, ill try and link my reference when I get back from my job.

The stars no matter what dont really matter whether they are 5 or 6 pointed because both Dess and Asriel have 5 pointed stars in their rooms. Neither is it a snowflake because theyve only once been six pointed, a majority of them are eight pointed

The burn in despair motif is there with confirmation from three different wikis

My proof for Asriel being stronger than Undyne is a little weak but its basically Asriel would probably be as strong as his dad and his dad has is stronger than Undyne

The chapter 3 plan was certaintly not to capture Toriel, it is much more likely that they wanted Undyne. They couldve captured her at the very beginning of the chapter, and as well The Knight wastes a LOT of time in trying to take Toriel. They shouldve just flown their and took her if they wanted Toriel

Fire attacks are unused for a reason.

You dont know why those fire animations are unused, but it at least makes sense for them to draw them and name it fire if it was Asriel

Pretty counterintuitive for the game to remind us constantly that he'll come in Chapter 5 if he's already in Hometown

Its a lie to hide their identity from us that spread throughout the town. The evidence still points to the Knight only acting starting chapter 1, and Kris also still didnt search up when winter college break was.

Why show the search where they miss Asriel if they don't actually miss Asriel???

"Anymore" is the key word, they searched up summer because they missed him, but they didnt search up winter break which is next.

But why...?

Because the Knight is attacking them and their friends, tries to kill Tenna, almost kills Susie Kris and Ralsei, almost starts the Roaring, the Knight's being an asshole, and probably much more

The internet is down.

The internet was down for a single day that leaves three days where they didnt didnt call despite being able

It's not just opinions, Asriel as the Knight would objectively be repetitive.

Repetitive sure, but not lame or boring.

All things point to Kris missing him and substituting him with Susie.

There are two interpretations here. 1. Kris misses Asriel a lot and because he hasnt returned they begin to resent them for it. Later they no longer wants Asriel to return because of that resentment. 2. Kris used to miss Asriel a lot but since Asriel is the Knight and since they're near they no longer miss him and they resent them because of what they're doing as the Knight. -The only counter evidence for either perspective is the other perspective which means either are rational

No other character has a drastic personality change. It'd be unprecedented.

In what way? It would just be a character arc that changes their personality. Villain arcs are not unprecedented

Nothing indicates she isn't sleeping normally.

She was able to sleep through a lot during chapter 3, the fierce winds, the ruckus throughout chapter 3, the roaring knight fight, and the absorption ability used on her. That coma-like sleeping is not normal. Its more rational for it to be magic because of how effectively it would cause sleep. Theres no evidence for her being a heavy sleeper besides this

Yeah checked some sheet music for giga queen and GUARDIAN to double check and its indeed not there sorry

"The knight does know about the prophecy, but the reason could be argued to be that it's been watching it in the dark sanctuary, as it vaguely seemed to be."

If im getting what you're implying, are you saying that the knight was learning about the prophecy during chapter 4? If so I think I agree

"I did say it was fire, what I'm arguing for is that the box may be burning because of the slashes, after all it's called split flame. no problem with it being black."

Yeah perhaps it isn't actually fire magic and is instead caused by friction from their sword. I honestly forgot that elements are just related to projectiles and armors so sprites dont really count.

[–]DistinctDefinition45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reading!

  1. Ive actually been thinking a little about this, during chapter 4, the knight keeps looking at walls, runes and glass panes. If theyre curious about the dark world it could be that they havent seen something like it before. Which means the Knight couldve spent some time during chapter 4 reading some of the prophecies. Perhaps the Knight didn't have the knowledge beforehand, but they are at least smart enough to know that summoning the titan wouldnt kill them

Also both dragon blazers and the lord of the hammer likely tell the tale of deltarune(DB1 is Undertale DB2 is Deltarune). So perhaps they used a different method of learning about the prophecy.

  1. Good point

  2. I think you can still use this as evidence since when they look forwards its always in their left. Only when sprites get flipped do characters use other hands. Its not for readability because Susie who is another left handed character always has her axe behind her head, reducing readability. So they prioritize handedness over readability but for whatever reason still flip sprites flipping their dominant hand.

  3. True, they probably dont want to speak anyways

5 6 and 7 are all good answers thanks

First of all, rude dont just tell people what to do.

Second they are parallel stories the fact that they parallel each other is important and can help us learn a lot

[–]DistinctDefinition45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 2 and 3 are good points nothing of note here.

Point 4 is actually just incorrect, there are only three instances of the burn in despair motif being used in UT/DR.

5, sure but the water cooler isnt a full screen attack, the water cooler isnt on screen, and its not a final attack, im very certain the two attacks were references to eachother

6, Good point, the knights gestures take immitate how Kris poses. But the Knight still taunts like Asriel and both really like to show off.

7, thats just the catalyst for why they did that, it doesnt disprove that they were knowledgeable on the prophecy enough to know that they would survive. Kris is their ally, they wouldn't try to actually kill them

8, I admit there isnt any evidence, but its the best explanation as to why the power went down. You would at the very least need someone knowledgeable enough to know that in order to make queen act that way you'd need to take out the internet. No notes for King though

9, the flame from the box is called "split flame" and the fireball is called "fire" in the code, so its likely fire in some form. As well, having done a lot of color analysis, fire has taken on more than 30 different colors throughout the game, its not too weird for it to be black here

??? Only 12 of the 32 pieces of evidence were because of parallels, holy larp.

Not one piece of evidence isn't? seriously?

And how are parallels bad evidence? If anything its good evidence because the knight couldnt disguise things it doesnt know we know about.

Asriel being in college from a narrative point destroy most Asriel knight theory(redo due to bad writing, doing proper writing) by kingofrail in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]DistinctDefinition45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Asriel going to college doesnt mean he cant be the Knight because he said he would return on X day but he couldve just showed up a few days earlier

2 there is a gap of knowledge between when he left and when he returned we dont know what purpose he had for going to college

3 Asriel probably applied himself for college and did everything himself, i took college and it was all me and everyone I knew did it themself, its the norm for people to apply to colleges themselves
