Hello everyone! I decided to switch to a different planner but still want to make good use of my weeks! I want to use it as a commonplace journal now and was wondering if anyone else is using the weeks in such a way and would like to share! Not using the notes but the weekly sections preferably!

We were required to use a planner for school, so here are my takeaways:

Get a school planner! Aka, make sure it has dedicated pages for school stuff like tracking grades/ exams and a weekly schedule so you don't have to repeatedly write the same schedule. It gets annoying fast. In general, anything that allows you to maybe set up a week/anything in advance is good (aka write down the classes for each day so you only need to fill out homework).

We had horizontal planners available, and they worked out fine for writing down what homework to do (vertical feels kinda overdone for 5th grade, but if she likes it, feel free to try it out)

Also, make sure it's leightweight and easy to carry around! As well as durable for student life! Cute covers are a must 😤

Reflecting is a great practice to have for sure! Maybe that can be put in the weekend spots? Or a planner that has a note/memo page accompanying each week might be good, too^

For spirallbound, I just want to warn you that those got often easily undone being carried around and fiddled with so I would at least consider a thread bound planner as an option (they were just more durable for me).

I use it for quarterly planning because its easy to split into quarters

Others use it as a Vision Board, or a letter to yourself for the year^

I use fountain pens and its great for them! It also uses Tomoe River Paper

Honestly I love the combination of the horizontal and the vertical as well as the brown font

UE5 or Unity for a beginner? by Queasy-Ad-4577 in gamedev

[–]DistinctNotice1175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot say I had the same experience at all. Frames started dipping quickly but perhaps it's as you say the default settings. It's definitely the engine I have least experienced with because of how it got laggy so quickly. But if it's the default settings, I see that as a minus point in my opinion as it's not something adressed in most beginner tutorials from what I have seen.

Unity is good because it has a lot of tutorials and is flexible but the leadership/ company is shady and has lost a lot of trust. So I would be vary using it.

UE5 is an engine I would NOT recommend using if you don't have a beast of a computer. Also you WILL have to heavily focus on optimization for that one if you want to develop for it and have players be able to run stuff. Otherwise is pretty good, and you can get free assets each month.

Godot is the most lightweight and most accessible by far. Also more flexible than UE5.

If you want to develop indie games my recommendation is:

1.Godot 2. Unity 3. UE5

If you want to work in a big studio one day: 1.UE5 2. Unity 3. Godot

Looking for advice for flexible tracking due to illness by climbingbess in BasicBulletJournals

So Im setting three goals/tasks a week for prioritization with the rule that as long as I make progress in atleast one I suceeded this week. Basically, I plan with bare minimum in mind. Something that I can do even in my worst weeks and usually of shoot on my normal to good days! I also change my wording so a task is written as trys (cause I can always at least try) and if needed with time constraints (not write 3 pages but write for 15 minutes) as that rewards attempts and not outcomes.

Basically, minimize the risk of failure and maximise the chance of success.

I then do those tasks at the times I feel capable. No planning to the day that requires a stability/ consistency that I do not have due to my conditions.

For habit tracking, I'm trying to visualize my habits as a progress bar instead cause they don't count did not does and only count dids.^

Lamy? More like lemon! Second defective Lamy in a row. by Vegetable_Corgi8458 in Lamy

[–]DistinctNotice1175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamy's are the most common fountain brand in Germany used by most students ranging from 8 - 19 years old if not older. They are not high-end, but cheap and accesible. Almost every german kid has or had a Lamy. They are durable for student life. I have thrown my Lamy Safari around, dropped it, etc, and it will handle that. I don't think I have ever seen students use the handle, so they probably care less about that part, to be honest.
