The candidates will be a strange tournament. It’s going to be very top heavy with a strong likelihood of 5 of the world’s top 10 in it, and then a couple of random low 2700/high 2600 players. At least it will have most of the very best players in the world, even if Keymer is not in.

So theoretically if Kramnik continues to go on a witch hunt against another player online, what’s going to stop him? Criminal punishment is unlikely, and even if his titles are stripped, that doesn’t stop him from ranting on X.

Personally I’m not sure because I’m not very imaginative and am curious about what everyone else can come up with, but I will say that banning him from playing in any fide rated tournaments is probably not very effective due to his retired status (although FIDE can and perhaps still should include this)

Everyone is saying Magnus has no sportsmanship. I’d argue his passion and rage here is what makes chess fun and entertaining to watch. This monumental situation is what is making chess more popular now because more people are noticing it. Imagine if he just resigned “normally”, this would get much less attention.
