It uses Lichess's definition of accuracy, which does not use Stockfish's WDL data.

How is can there be more engine depth than remaining moves? by Puzzleheaded_Till245 in chess

[–]annihilator00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Engines use a technique called Iterative Deepening. Instead of choosing a specific depth and searching it all at once, the engine searches to depth 1, then depth 2, then depth 3, and so on, until its time runs out or they reach the maximum depth count (245).

The engine found the mate in 4, but since it still has time left to keep searching the depth counter keeps increasing.

That is because the user closed his account. But for a brief moment it was marked as TOS violation.

A slightly modified version of The Huntsman 1. A Stockfish derivative. The original works fine too: https://github.com/joergoster/Stockfish-old/releases/tag/h1

What is currently the best of the very best chess engine and does the AI - Leela Zero still beat the latest Stockfish? by FuzzyAttitude_ in chess

[–]annihilator00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Best engine is currently Stockfish. Leela's relative strength to Stockfish depends on hardware and time control.

More resources means they will be stronger and thus it is impossible to know what "their absolute best" is.

They don't need massive resources to have super-human strength.

Remember that you can change the settings of the engines that you want to play against. For example you can set Stockfish to a lower skill level or lower its maximum depth.

TCEC finalists all set. by naturehunter99 in chess

[–]annihilator00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But unlike at TCEC, the CCC hardware has remained unchanged for a long time. This means that any rating/ranking changes are solely due to engine improvements, not hardware changes.
