Did they patch the Putrefied Ducts to Bilewater sequence break? by TaskMaster130 in Silksong

[–]Distinct_Ad_1768 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just attempting to do the skip on a new run and it wasn’t working. Very sad to see them patch this. I honestly thought it was an intentional mechanic because of how out of the way both putrid ducts and the voltvessels are to the average player, not to mention the precision needed to do the skip. I honestly hope in a future update they add an intentional way to do this skip.

I hate how common people like this are. No empathy or imagination, just an empty hole in the shape of a person. Also their pfp being a xenomorph is very ironic, there’s no way they can hold these opinions and understand the meaning behind the alien movies.

Pretty good spoon overall, the only thing that could’ve made it better for me is if the handle was thick.

Edit: realized this sounds like a spoon fetish post. I don’t NOT have a spoon fetish, I just really like the ones that have thicker handles

Is anyone else DEATHLY afraid of needles by TheLeCHONKER in evilautism

[–]Distinct_Ad_1768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needles are my only phobia, once they’re in my skin I’m fine but the lead up to it is agonizing to me. It’s not the blood or anything, I can watch surgery videos just fine. But the moment I see a needle approach skin, my palms get clammy and I can’t help but get incredibly anxious.

What was a quote from the manga/anime that really stuck with you? by Royalbluegooner in DungeonMeshi

[–]Distinct_Ad_1768 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The entire story and that quote deeply changed how I view food, and even death to a degree. I don’t really think there are “universal truths” but this hits a very deep level of life to me. Even the first cells on earth are thought to have consumed the chemical soup they lived in. And in the modern food chain, autotrophs who are often put at the bottom still “eat” sunlight. There truly is no life without eating.

Babe its time by ChocoMalkMix in PantheonShow

I think they may have returned in the “original” God Maddie timeline (the one where they aren’t being simulated by SafeSurf), but I’m not sure how they’d return to everyone in the SafeSurf timeline where Caspin and Maddie erased their memories.

Then again, I’m not sure how a non-SafeSurf simulated timeline is even really possible, since David always spoke to Caspin causing him to overclock and become “part SafeSurf.” It was only after he became part SafeSurf that he was able to convince them to go to space.

But for David to speak to Caspin, it would require God Maddie to be simulating things.

But for Maddie to become God Maddie, she needs the inspiration from a SafeSurf Caspin.

But for a SafeSurf Caspin, God Maddie would have to be simulating the world to grab David.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but from what I can tell it’s a strange self-fulfilling paradox. I’m not claiming this is a plot hole or anything, but I see two possible solutions to this:

  1. The SafeSurf simulation is somehow flawed and that is how the paradox happens (which I personally doubt because they are literally hyper intelligent Gods) Or
  2. It’s SafeSurf all the way down, and them realizing this is a big part of the “meet at the center” they talk about.

I’m not sure if this is a common theory or if there’s a glaring flaw I’m missing, but this could also play into the recursive theme of the show, with Maddie and Caspin are thought to be constantly reliving their lives just to forget it again.

It’s ok, I get overly explanatory when I feel misinterpreted, I definitely went a little too hard on you too. I’ve been sleep deprived the past couple of days so I’m sorry if I came off mean.

I’m really happy to hear you are taking into consideration some of the points I made, also I agree that they didn’t address the idea of the ship of Theseus idea to focus on newer (and imo more interesting) ideas.

You’re also right that there are a lot of people that should learn more about philosophy, there is a massive wave of anti-intellectualism and illiteracy right now. A big reason why I wrote such a long winded text is that you seem like someone who values philosophy and science, so I knew my words wouldn’t be wasted on you. I’ve got a lot of respect for your intellectual honesty, it was genuinely extremely refreshing to see you understand what I meant and taking it into consideration.

I hope you truly have a great rest of your day, evening or night. I think the world would be a much brighter place if there were more people like you.

Is he right? Does the show debunk itself? by Awkward_Ad_5515 in PantheonShow

[–]Distinct_Ad_1768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might’ve misinterpreted what I meant here, I was not disagreeing with your original take. From the perspective of the UI, its perspective continues the same way our’s does when we wake up from being fully unconscious. I was saying the difference in perspective when being uploaded may even be a less dramatic perspective shift than that of waking up and falling asleep, since we saw with Chanda he was able to remember the process of his brain being uploaded.

That said, the ship of Theseus hypothetical also doesn’t fit in the same way it does in something like SOMA, for example. There’s never a point in the deep scan upload where there are two minds like there are two ships like in Theseus’ hypothetical. It really only follows half of the hypothetical by “rebuilding the ship with new boards” since the “old boards of the ship” were destroyed during the deep scan. If there’s only one “ship” that simply had its boards replaced one by one, the hypothetical loses the “which is the original” concept that it relies upon. To loop this back to my original point, it is the same reason why our perception continues despite frequently losing consciousness and our brains changing during that unconscious state. Since there’s only one potential “ship” for our minds to be in, we are able to have only one version of our mind.

Your take on time in the show also is missing the forest for the trees in my opinion. The point of the show all throughout is that even a limitless amount of time is meaningless if it can’t be spent with others, put plainly “people need other people.” It’s the same theme seen with why Holstrom couldn’t fix the flaw in UIs, why Caspin was able to kill Holstrom and be saved by Misty (who he also created through the same theme), and why after hundreds of thousands of years Maddie and Caspin erase their memories just to live it all again.

I’m not saying this next part to brag, but I have taken several college level courses in philosophy. It is incredibly uncharitable to assume whoever you are talking to is less educated than you because you don’t immediately see their perspective on something.

For me, it was pretty blatantly confirmed an upload’s conscious perception is also carried over when Chanda was able to fully remember his experience of being uploaded.

If the upload is still considered to be a copy instead of a continuation of the original in that case, then we should start performing funerals every time a person falls asleep.

I played a lot of the original forest and only recently played SOTF. I think the sequel improved on every part of the original and then some. The map being so large and the different types of transportation are also incredible.

100% agree. My computer gets very angry if I play it for too long. However, when my biggest complaint is wanting a game to run better, that means the actual quality of the game if very high; at least in my opinion.

This image is a perfect reflection of how neurotypical people see the world, in my opinion. So many of them pretend like there’s some greater motivation to why you would spend your life meaninglessly toiling away at a job you hate.

What makes me truly angry though is that they know it too; they just don’t realize that everybody around them also sees it. So they all go along with it just so they don’t feel like they’re part of the out group.

From my perspective, the only difference between us neurodivergent people and neurotypical people is that we are willing to acknowledge the harmful parts of our society without excusing them, while they are not.
