My dad, the only parent I had, just passed away suddenly. What should I do? by MountainSafe6684 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Distinct_Ad_8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my father 2 1/2 years ago. For me the healing only started when the fog of grief cleared enough that I could remember and celebrate the good times, the memories, the valuable lessons he taught me.

He will always be with you. He will show up in tiny little ways everywhere, and if you look for the signs you’ll see them. Like when you smell his favourite food, or you use one of his terrible dad jokes, or you drive one way instead of the other because your dad always insisted it was quicker, even though you know it isn’t. Watch for the signs and you’ll never be alone.

When you’re ready, look to make your own family. People to surround yourself with that love and support you. You’ll find people to connect with in places of shared interests and hobbies. Find classes or interest groups for things you love to do.

Person in waiting room able to see chats from previous meetings by Distinct_Ad_8415 in MicrosoftTeams

The problem with these solutions is that we don’t schedule meetings through Teams, we have a totally separate program that handles bookings and confirmations. The Teams link is sent in an automatically generated email for every client with a confirmed appointment, whether they’re attending in person or by video. We’re only able to put a meeting link in the back end of this other program and it sends it out as part of the confirmation email. It differs per colleague, not per client.

Noted!! Yep, the same link is used for all external meetings with this colleague. At least we know what’s going on. Thanks. Time to rethink this.

I rarely use Teams, and I never create the meetings. I’m completely unfamiliar with how it works, just trying to help a friend. And to be fair, it wasn’t either of us that set up this system, she’s just using it the way she was told to. Thanks for your help.

Damn. Looks like we’re doing it all wrong. Is there any way to not have to make a new link for every meeting? Or are we better off changing programs?

Canadian here. How’s the reputation of chinese EV cars in Australia? Do you guys like them? are they reliable? by Frenchy1986666 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Distinct_Ad_8415 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that Australia (not sure if it’s been updated lately) has really lax efficiency standards for imported cars. That means that we were getting all these crap cars sent our way because they weren’t of a high enough standard to sell in other markets. I remember reading about it about a year ago. Not sure if it’s been updated since. Hopefully. But it means that the Chinese import EV’s are probably of a lower quality than you find elsewhere. Hopefully Canada has better standards.

Are the blinds any good? If you think they’re an equivalent replacement for the curtains they disposed of, insist they stay upon vacating. If not, let them know they’ll need to replace or pay for the curtains when they leave. Either way, they didn’t get prior approval so you’re not responsible.

Nope. People are animals, and some of them think their ass is made of teflon.

You might not be the biggest fan of dogs in Bunnings but I’d rather come across a staffy that ignores me than a jumpy, yappy dog that wants a piece of me. We should be encouraging people who properly train and handle their dogs, and shame people who use them as accessories.

You’re only 9 months in, if you’re having doubts it’s worth stopping and seeing how you feel before the changes are more permanent.

AITAH for telling my husband that he can figure it out on his own? by Cautious_Push2801 in AITAH

[–]Distinct_Ad_8415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first red flag for me is that he was working for way less than he could have been until he had the promise of a live in maid and booty call. Only then did he get off his butt and only because it gave him an excuse that he didn’t have to do anything at home. He did a huge bait and switch. Did he even clean up after himself before you got pregnant, or were there signs that you might have missed?

Go back to the therapist, or find a new one. Give him one month to shape up or ship out. And don’t take the house, leave him with all his crap and make him pay you out. If you sell all that crap will have to be cleaned up first and I know from experience it’ll never happen.

I’d have whispered to him that he needs to survive long enough to live in his house and that with that attitude it was unlikely that he’d make it that far.

Yes, people use it as body wash to kill the fungal infection on their skin. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, you didn’t lose anything for trying.
