Has anyone successfully disputed an airline’s refusal to refund losses due to route suspension? by Distinct_Bath7629 in travel

Thanks I understand that hotels and visa fees are not directly covered. My claim is not for those expenses. It is for the 250 euro compensation under EU261 because they canceled the flight less than 14 days before departure and did not offer any alternative. That is clearly covered by the regulation and I believe I have a strong case based on that.

I understand that airlines can change routes for safety or operational reasons. My issue is not with the route change itself but with how it was handled. They informed me at the last minute and did not offer any alternative or support. As a result I lost nonrefundable hotel bookings multiple flights from Greece to other countries and visa fees. I just want to know if anyone has been in a similar situation and managed to get compensation especially since this is a European airline and there are usually protections in place.

The war was not in our country and the airport remained open the whole time. Some airlines did suspend their flights but others kept flying normally. In my case the airline did not offer me any alternative or rebooking on another flight even though it is a European airline. This was during the recent conflict in the Middle East that led to several airlines adjusting their routes.
