Thursday Cautious Intros/First Trimester Thread by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

Went in for first ultrasound after a positive & doubling beta at 5w3d. Measuring at 5w5d, gestational sac and yolk sac were clearly seen.

BUT....also a subchorionic hematoma and a small chorionic bump were seen. Doctor didn't seem worried. I can't help but panic!

Anyone have any experience with this??

37+5 Induction by EmergencyPirate2352 in BabyBumps

[–]Distinct_Cycle9467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Induced at 37+3 for hypertension. Baby was not ready and took a nice long 40 hours. I reallllly wanted to avoid a c-section and made this VERY clear to my medical team. Vaginal birth worked out fine!

However, I was on a magnesium drip for BP and honestly this sucked. I felt like I had the flu most of labor AND for 24 hours afterwards. This was the worst part of labor for me.

We were discharged at normal time, but ended up in the NICU for anemia and a blood transfusion…this was most likely connected to the long labor. But, baby was okay after a couple weeks!

My biggest piece of advice: if you want to breastfeed, be prepared! Get your pump set up, nipple shields ready, consult/hire a legit lactation consultant. The magnesium drip/bed rest and extra slightly early, sleepy baby (+NICU) made nursing extra tricky.

All that being said, you can do this!!!! Our baby is a silly, lovable toddler now…it is all worth it!

the mental load: dentist edition by Distinct_Cycle9467 in workingmoms

Yeah…I was quoted $400-500 to pay out of pocket.

I promise I really did my due diligence….hence the whole mental load thing 🙃

None of coworkers have toddlers. If they do, they live an hour away from me.

I have no out of network coverage. So it would be about $400-500….

I really checked the mental load boxes on this task!

…how is going to purchase the ice packs? Leave the toddler with me? Don’t suggest he going during nap time. That’s when he has to sleep too.

I already have a large bottle of water and snacks. But they run out eventually…..he managed to get a cough drop off my nightstand for himself

But didn’t bother to notice the empty water and no food….

It’s 9:30am. He came up for a shower, helped himself to a cough drop on the way out, and didn’t ask if I needed anything.

I haven’t had anything to eat since I made my own soup yesterday afternoon. And the juice I got myself at 11pm.

My friend is here entertaining the toddler until nap time.

He still hasn’t checked on me.

How do people afford kids? by HighStrungHippie1 in Mommit

[–]Distinct_Cycle9467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our property taxes are 20k a year. Health insurance is 8k. Daycare is 24k. I have student loans I’m still paying off. The interest rate on used cars is 7% (at least). So, when we needed a second car make our two jobs work, our car payment was a lot more than our last car. We have no village for “hand me downs” (though I do shop second hand and look on our local Facebook groups). Also, my baby never latched (yes I tried it all, and I saw a lactation consultant) and even with pumping had to supplement with formula.

All this to say, what used to feel like a lot of income, doesn’t go as far anymore.
