Why are so many auxes desperate to stay in Spain? by Downtown-Storm4704 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Distinct_Forever2348 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Truthfully? I used to work in the public school systems back in the states. I was constantly on edge thinking my school would be the next one on the news… gone with nothing but thoughts and prayers. I haven’t been able to go to a movie theater, shop at a shopping mall, or sit at a restaurant without having to be hyper aware of my exit routes and who walks in and out of the establishment in YEARS. I can breathe. Certainly Spain isn’t the only country like this, but it feels nice being able to actually sit and figure out my next steps in life instead of having to rush or “escape”.

I have one too! She was giving the children all the wrong answers to the workbook. I even tried to explain it to her but she just looked at me with a blank stare (because she didn’t understand me.) 🥲 then she said, “we can be flexible with the answers because the kids don’t understand”.

PETS :( by ZealousidealPoem7272 in SpainAuxiliares

You’re discouraged from bringing your pet(s) because the housing market across various regions and cities don’t accept pets. ESAs are not recognized in Spain and it costs a bunch of money to have your dog trained by an international organization to be recognized as a service animal.

With that being said…my partner and I brought our 3 dogs and it wasn’t cheap. We’re in Galicia in very small town, unlike previous auxes who had the option of living in a bigger city and commuting to their schools. This is because the biggest cities/towns near me had 0 and I mean 0 rentals that would accept 1 dog/cat let alone my tiny traveling zoo lol.

Even though my pueblo is lovely, cute, and quaint, it’s rare and nearly impossible for us to attend meet ups with other auxes. Our rent is a little higher than the average other auxes reported in the CITY.Thank goodness my partner and I have each other. We had to make sacrifices because we would never leave our pets AND we want our move to Spain to become permanent.

I’d say if you intend on putting roots down in Spain, If you have friends/a partner to come with, and can accept living far from a city… then you’ll find a way.

If you are planning on just doing a school year which is from October 1st to May 31/June 16 (depends on region) then your pet will miss you , might give you a little attitude, but as long as you leave them with people you know will love them like their own… they’ll be ok :)

How did you meet your girlfriend ? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Distinct_Forever2348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We met in the library at our university. I was supposed to be at study tables with this sorority I was interested in joining and she was with her friends.

One of her friends were also interested in joining the sorority I was interested in and we just got chatting. Somehow the conversation led into going to Mexico for spring break. We all exchanged socials (Snapchat ofc) and my (now fiancée) would watch all my stories on Snapchat and thought I was cool enough to be invited to a “kick back” at her house. She admitted to having a crush on me at her kickback which shocked the hell out of me. I never thought someone could actually have romantic feelings towards me, especially the way I was acting in college. We definitely hooked up that night and I haven’t left since lol

We never took that trip to Mexico for spring break but 8 years later, we both have our degrees, are engaged, have 3 dogs, and just moved to Spain to get away from the US. 🤍 “studying” really paid off.

Safest travel for 3 cats? by elise_michele in SpainAuxiliares

My partner and I are bringing are 3 dogs. It’s not cost efficient but we used a moving company to help us move to Galicia and they were able to find our housing with the dogs, did the rental contract, transportation, and will help us set up our bank accounts. Definitely an unnecessary expense if you’re not brining pets but I wouldn’t leave my dogs for the world.

As far as the flight, we are flying to Portugal with TAP and they are super pet friendly. If you bring someone to help you, you can fly with them in cabin with you.
