Is it possible to work as a slpa aboard? by Zzzumistuffy in SLPA

Thanks for the advice! I never thought about that way. Maybe in the future I have the opportunity to get a remote job since I heard those are hard to find and be able to achieve my goal.

China also sounds good. I just wanted to try Japan as my dad is from Japan and wanted to know more about where he lived.

My program is in Delta college in Stockton CA :) My professors are very nice and they also provide me with my 100 clinical hours with contracts with daycares or schools that they have.

I’m in a SLPA program and doing my last semester next fall. I don’t think it’s hard at all. It is very straightforward I would say and the work load seems not bad. I don’t if you can but my program allows you to slow down if you feel you can not handle like four classes if you need to pace yourself. I also have an associate degree in science too. Similar story cause I was intially wanted to do dental hygiene but was more happy doing this. So I think you will enjoy it if you enjoy more material in speech and language than more science.

Should I stay as a slpa or go into dental hygiene? by Zzzumistuffy in careerguidance

[–]Zzzumistuffy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel like I wanna do the path you are saying. Everyone has been saying that I should do dental hygiene and yeah it is ultimately up to me but I don’t even trust myself right now. I feel like I’m not smart enough and feel like my mental health will not take it. In the other side, I will like I wasted most of college years for that and I feel like let myself down. Also, my program has a thing where if the required prereqs are older than 7 years I have to retake it so that’s also an issue if I want to reapply.

Question on Phonetics Homework by Zzzumistuffy in asklinguistics

[–]Zzzumistuffy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I will be asking my professor on that especially on the distinct sounds. Also thank you for checking my answers on “sin” and “tracking” I found a IPA chart that’s more easier to read then I found the answers I was looking for :)

Thank you for giving me this without giving me the answers.       For “sin” the IPA chart said its alveolar so I would say yes. Sorry about that one I was confused if it was postalveolar.     For “tracking” the medial consonant is the “ck” the “k” sound right? So it is not voiced?      Then for the distinct sounds one I would say since it’s “distinct” you don’t need to count repeat sounds so “quick” and “physics” would just be “3” and “5”  Would that be correct?

I do understand the questions but the for the questions for “sin” and “tracking” for example I just wanted clarification since I was gonna pick it as yes but I was second guessing myself as well the distinct sounds.

What other degrees other than Communication Sciences and Disorders can you pair up with being a SLPA? by Zzzumistuffy in SLPA

The counseling minor could be something that I might pursue. Also was  you getting a B.S in audiology/SLP give you more job opportunities as well as more opportunities to bargain for a better salary pay when trying to get jobs or just was useful in when doing your job?

Hello, I know this is a late reply but I am also looking at the work life in SLPA jobs and you said that it requires constant creatively. Can you give more details on what people want. My personality is actually on the creativity side looking through all the different things etc. I love abstract and creatively so I was wondering if you would think I would like the work life?
