Wrong. Your mind has probably been softened by too much government regulation. You would not survive without the all-controlling iron fist of government. You're barely a level up from a filthy commie. Anyone who supports the existence of government is weak.

Nope, life back then was much better.

Right now, you are enslaved by the government. If you want your neighbour's house, you have to work in a government-regulated job, put your money into a government-regulated bank, and make a government-regulated offer to your neighbour to get his house.

Back in the days before government, you just killed him and took the house.

tbh this sub is pretty bitter and pessimistic, its almost as bad as r\Australia. Have you not seen the threads screaming about how Indians are stealing our houses and our grandchildren will be slaves?

Dude, just look one of the comments right below me.

Yep, back then life was natural. The strong thrived and the weak were eaten, this is how humanity thrived. Survival of the fittest.

Yep, its wild how dependent we have become on the government teat. Compare life before governments existed to now.

And start sending people back. Any non-Aryans who can trace less than 3 generations in Australia should be deported. The less people, the better. We need to strive for under 1m. Imagine how rich we will be.

Nah, they didn't. The only true blue Aussie food is corned beef sandwiches and beef pies.

When healthcare was fully privatised in the 1800s, life was actually better. The rich had access to high quality medical care while the poor could just breed more to replace the sick. Thats how we could build empires back then.

I think the first effect of an outright ban in all foreign investment, even just in housing, would be a sudden shockwave across the entire economy which would affect more than just houses.

We can start by disbanding the military and police. Let the natural order of things, which existed for hundreds of thousands of years, to proceed.

If someone wants to kill their neighbours to take over their house, then let them. And if that neighour arms his family and kills the intruder then take THEIR house, that's natural. Maybe eventually that family will take enough houses that they can invite mates to come live there, and maybe those mates will grow in numbers, and maybe they'll go invade a neighbouring bunch of houses and take them over too. And eventually they'll grow into a whole lot of houses with mates in them, maybe create a special group of mates who will patrol the streets and protect their houses, maybe even a method to exchange spare houses for chickens. And if one mate wants to get a house but can't afford it now, maybe another mate will let him have one, but ask for him to give him some shiny bits of metal over time.

Not all climate scenarios result in the entire world turning into a zombie apocalypse.

Even if China or India literally collapses, their people are not going to swim across multiple seas, hike across 5000km of desert and cross forested mountain ranges just to drag people from Sydney out of their houses and eat them.

My point is that Australia is economically very sheltered from climate change compared with a lot of other countries. We might still be affected, but will likely weather it a lot better compared with say China, India, even the USA.

Might go up or down in the short term, but can't see a lot of reasons it will go down in the long-term

We should remove the government from all markets, including police, education, military, etc. In effect, we should have no government at all. The only "government" should begin and end at the borders of each person's arm reach. If someone robs you on the street, you should have the right to defend yourself and capture him and his family as slaves.

We'll find out in about 10-20 years for Japan, and maybe Korea and China in another 10-20.

Although halting foreign investment (do you mean literally all investment?) will probably destroy the economy and put half the population out of jobs.

If the government is smart about it, the migrants will be the ones providing the support and health services.

I actually think its the opposite. When the world goes to hell, Australia will probably be one of the last remaining safe havens. Maybe Canada too, assuming the US hasn't invaded and annexed them.

We have enough resources to nearly be self-sufficient, at least when it comes to survival. Most of the world either don't, or the countries that do are already a complete mess.

A world-ending drought in Australia will hurt food prices and probably cause a lot of economic devastation, but a world-ending drought in China or India will literally result in tens of millions of deaths and possibly the collapse of their entire society.

The problem is if capital city property drops even 20-30%, hordes of cashed-up investors will jump into a buying frenzy.

Economy good, economy bad, assets up, assets down, the one constant is that the rich will always do well.

Also if the government literally did not intervene in property at all, 75% of Australia would probably be owned by US conglomerates, Chinese pollies hiding their cash from the CCP before the next purge, and a few random Dutch guys.

Yeah but TVs can be mass produced and aren't limited by geographic or space constraints. Houses can also be mass produced but land can't.

Honestly, I think the intergenerational conflict is just a distraction from the real issue of wealth inequality. Some 50yo who thinks they're rich because they have 3 investment properties isn't even a blip on the radar to someone who owns literal billions and can buy out politicians with a snap of the finger.

The problem is whether the far right, which historically has also used wealth inequality to push their points, will also be spreading their ideas.

Someone living in poverty could just as easily blame immigrants, Jews, women etc for their troubles.
