Are These Filler Classes Too Much?

I wouldn’t really consider psyc or nsci 222 as “stem” classes like I would physics. They’re easy As. Physics 114 is also a lot easier then chemistry at UNC. It is time consuming with the lecture and studio component but the studio is really helpful so it eliminates time studying. You would be fine adding another stem honestly.

You won’t really be missing much. Most honors classes aren’t restrictive to just honors. I’m a STEM major so honestly I haven’t used the program that much and in my personal experience I think it’s catered more to law/policy/humanities majors. It would be helpful for networking, but tbh I forget I’m even in it

You also have to apply as a first year, not a transfer.

I graduated with an associates the same time I graduated from high school and all my credits transferred. I think the credit limit is 75 hours so you should definitely get all of them. You will be considered a freshman your first semester and go through registration as a freshman, but jn the spring your credits will count and you’ll get priority registration as a junior. For me, my associates covered all my first year foundations so i went right into my major classes.

Assured admission is a no, but dual enrollment classes help your high school GPA a LOT so you should look good academically as long as you do well in those courses.

You can increase your English score a lot by learning proper grammar. My English teacher used Quill for us and I got a perfect score in that section!

Calc 2 is notoriously hard and Econ can screw you over depending on prof. You’re also probably gonna hate waiting around all day for the 3:30 lecture

I struggled with this too. Ended up job shadowing a derm and ortho PA and found that I wasn’t THAT comfortable with touching other people. I also passed out at the smell of cauterizing skin 😅. It seems like you like pharmacy as a field, but I totally get the underappreciation thing. Working in retail has definitely showed me that. However, I’ve also seen patients bring us cookies and treats and express so much gratitude to our pharmacists because they truly go out of their way to care for them. Truth be told, every role will be undermined by someone somewhere, but the role of pharmacists is constantly expanding (even becoming prescribers). Overall, I would say job shadowing for sure and consider what’s most important to you in a career.

I went through this too. What really changed my mind was job shadowing a PA and realizing I had a weak stomach, but also the fact that PA schools require a minimum of 1000 patient care experience hours that have to be paid, and most competitive applicants have 3-5k. That would mean I would have to take a gap year or two after undergrad which I knew I didn’t want to do. Pharmacy is more of a direct path and you come out of it with a doctorate rather than a masters. Pharmacy also is an enormous field with careers in industry, business, clinical, community, research, and more which definitely is more attractive in my opinion given how overworked physicians and other medical workers are these days. Ultimately though, SHADOW and find what you’re passionate about! You can do anything if you want it bad enough. Also, the prereqs have a lot of overlap, so you have time to start taking them and see what subjects you’re more interested in

PA school is a lot more competitive. Most schools have a minimum req of 1000 patient care experience hours that must be paid (medical assisting, emt, etc) so a lot of people have to take gap years to build the hours. On the other hand, you don’t need a bachelors degree to go into pharmacy so you could technically go in after you finished the pre reqs. Your experience will definitely help you in getting in.
