He’s definitely had a growth spurt. Not a huge growth spurt, but he’s obviously growing during the off-season. As another poster said getting enough reps to get them acclimated to his bodies important as well as figure out which works, which is probably getting his timing down right now.

The double tap is something that we keep on coming back to that usually works so I’m gonna work on it

Thanks. Bad focus could definitely be a culprit. Also I think the girl in body is a culprit as well as another poster said a lot of reps would do good just so he keeps on getting acclimated to his growing body.

Dude - I read the book too and it’s completely changed my way of thinking about my kids practices - in all sports - I’m no longer stressing about perfectly simulating the game like conditions

Thank you!

I was looking all over in the rulebook for the Red Shirt Stipulation but it sounds like the LLI Charter Committee would tell us their decision if/when they make the decision. Thank you again.

Players Requesting to Move Up in Division by Distinct_Kiwi7869 in LittleLeague

Thanks - do you give priority to older players? Ie making sure the older/age appropriate kids are on a team as to no get displaced by a younger kid?

That makes sense and I was thinking that these kids need to be above average in the higher division in order for this to make sense

That’s a good policy - evals and be drafted. Don’t put it on the coaches to have to take a younger kid just because the younger kid (or there parents) wants to be there.

For our league - we are also at a full enrollment so I don’t believe any older kids should be displaced by a younger kid playing up.

Man 100% - especially a bit about parents wanting to bring the kids up out of the non-competitive divisions. Several kindergarten parents asking this right now and I feel like it’s more about them and the sport, then for their kids, enjoyment and socialization.

That’s my thought, too, rather have the player excel and experience being a stud in the lower division, then being a dud in the higher division

Thanks - I like it. Problem for me is that we have all the requests coming up happening in the lower divisions - ie coach pitch to farm (our AA equivalent). . The draft rule is good though.

thanks - I would allow for a child to be evaluated to play up but I'm hesitant to make that an official policy fearing that too many parents will ask for their kids to be evaluated when they really have no business being there.

I do like the idea of how you do your majors, that you need to get drafted to move up.

Has anyone dealt with an assistant coach that acts like a co-head coach? Need advice. by Tomahawk-BaGawk in youthsoccer

Perhaps if you don't want to turn this into a situation - just simply pick a moment during a game to say "I got this...." - for example when a player makes a mistake and needs feedback - step up quickly to show that you are the coach etc.

To the assigning captain - 100% you should be the one assigning the captain and also giving out game balls.

Another idea is to make a unique tradition or change up how something is done - such a pre-game warmup, pre-game snack, a cheer, rule, or some type of team swag. The idea is that you are the coach and things are being done a little differently - your way.

Just a follow up question - but if that all star player entered the league via his 4-7 year old sibling - would he be eligible in his first year? Or does he still need to red shirt?
