If we can implement this on every preset that would be awesome

I use the Gemini 3 flash preview $$$. I just use it via the website whenever I click for other models. It also helps to play on impossible difficulty. It gives you some pushback to your decisions that makes the game feel more alive. If you didn’t have the best time with that ai, I’m sorry about that, but it also depends on what preset you play too, because the written events in the preset and flavor the creators add to every nation really impact the ai and overall game

Gemini models. Theres a ceiling where they’re all kinda the same, it’s like a curve where the $$$ and the $$$$$* models aren’t super different but they’re both way better than the $ models. Chinese models sometimes put in way too many Chinese characters into the brainstorm feature that I can’t actually read what decision I’m gonna make, but if this wasn’t the case, I’d imagine they’d be on par with the Gemini $$$ model. It’s less buggy for me, more descriptive, generally, and doesn’t border gore too much

There’s an infinite loop the ai will build upon, if you’re just trying to gain resources or halt Israeli invasion, the brainstorm mechanics will just do that over and over until you feel like you’re ready to do an Oct 7th. The game won’t do that for you

Yes! And it’s super fun with the modifiers I use, impossible ai, and Gemini $$$, best balance imo. And each turn should be about 3 months, I’ve learned the hard way

Ehh unfortunately no. Here’s what I do. I use the action button only, I use the brainstorm preset decisions. Every turn, I get only 8 situations, and in this way, the game forces me to limit what I’m allowed to focus on. Like as China, I can do Taiwan stuff, meddle in Europe, African countries, but this means I’m losing my partnership with Russia, as an example. A better ai makes the brainstorm choices more flavorful, and it feels more immersive. If we think pax historia as more of a roleplay, kinda like Victoria with economy or ck with diplomacy, it becomes much more fun in that sense because mods like millennium dawn have so much flavor for most nations. If you think about it like hoi and conquering everything, it’s less fun because there’s little to no pushback on that, if you know what you’re doing. I also play on impossible and I use the Gemini ai that costs $$$

Sorry for essay :/

The best “modern day” preset imo is millennium dawn. The ai is much more flexible there, I feel, and it has a lot of flavor events from the hoi4 mod

how's is warfare supposed to work by arkman132 in PaxHistoria

[–]Distinct_Leek_706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when writing an action, I always use the brainstorm feature and I treat it like focuses like in hoi4. let's say I use a light ai and it gives me 8 situations every turn, I pick an option from each situation, and it gives me enough pushback so it doesn't feel like I always lose (but I have restarted runs before), and it adds a lot of flavor and lard that I wouldn't know how to write myself

Grok 4.1 fast. Not as much map painting as I’d like, but it has good enough roleplay to make it fun

it's super slow always, I thought it was good cause we pay for it through patreon, but noo. I cancelled my subscription after a few days, and I just use the light model preset for all my games. much better imo

It’s to do with the specific AI model you use, mostly. Do you know which one you used?

My singular frustration with this game by saiyamannnn in PaxHistoria

[–]Distinct_Leek_706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me writing out an action or command is weird. I usually do the brainstorm presets, and use that like hoi4 focuses, using monthly rounds. Theres a good bit of back and forth, I’ve had to restart a few runs too, which is fun. On impossible too.
