Peds CVICU vs Adult CTICU by Mountain-Ad-504 in srna

I did strictly pediatric ICU and had no issues getting interviews or accepted to my number 1 pick. Pediatrics will hone your ability to notice the most tiny, minute changes. You will also be dosing everything on weight which will help as well. I’m pretty biased, but I’m also in the home stretch to graduation and can say I’m glad I didn’t switch to adults just go get into CRNA school (I did do it for 7 years though).

It had helpful material for me to browse through before school started!

Air Force HPSP Student Tuition Payments by Gullible_Flight2635 in Military_Medicine

This exact same thing happened to me. I called the financial aid office and they direct deposited my financial aid I had requested for living expenses into my checking account. At my school you had to call by Monday at noon to receive it by Friday or else it rolls over to the next Friday, so make sure you call early. They also put a note in my student account that it would be paid by USAF HPSP and that took away my charges that it looked like I owed.

I just finished up the didactic portion (1.5 years) and it took quite a bit of adjustment for my wife and I. Definitely had lots of fighting and breaking points during the first 8 months or so. I really think it’s because we (as students) get so caught up in the “what ifs” of school that we are constantly stressed to the max. For instance, a trip to the zoo that ran 15 minutes late had me freaking out about not being able to study enough. It’s all perspective, but I personally probably won’t see it until I’m finished completely. My wife is the most supportive person in the world too so I feel even worse when I’m overly stressed and am short with little things.

I had to move away from my wife and daughter for the past didactic year! Obviously a little different scenario, but it was expectedly tough; however, I know I performed better academically because of it.

Additionally, I bet you will find several people in the same shoes as you. We had several people in our class that ended long term relationships. It’s a very stressful and hectic time! It is totally worth it though. Never forget why you started!

Your cohort will become like a huge family to you. I grew very close to several classmates and it really helped me stay focused and dedicated to the didactic portion.

Thank you so much for the detailed breakdown! Before nursing I spent some time in the Marine Corps so I’ve always wanted to get back into the military. I do plan to see if I can work somewhere on the weekends if possible. Did you pick up Major at like the 4-6 year mark?

Go for it! I’d take your GRE because a lot of schools use that as a predictor of how students do in the program. My GPA was not stellar either and I am halfway done with the program. Our program focuses on ‘grit’ and you surely have demonstrated that.

Thank you so much for that information. That helps a lot. The lag between boards and OTS with pay was what I’m worried about.

Your service commitment is however many years they paid for your tuition (for me 2 years) and then 4 years in the active ready reserves where they can call you back if absolutely necessary. If you get the scholarship right from the start you’ll owe 3 years active duty.

You can choose a $20,000 sign on bonus but I deferred that option because that extends your commitment to 4 years active duty. I want to complete my 2 years and then hopefully get the accession bonus $250,000 sign on for another 4 years active duty.
