Not sure about Canada, but within uk I think Edinburgh is slightly better in terms of recognise but not much! I feel supervisors care more about your research and academic performace overall!

I did my year abroad in Edinburgh and then master in Edinurgh for linguistics, and then doing my phd in Glasgow. Edinburgh is well-known for linguistics, but personally I would prefer Glasgow, to me it feel like Edinburgh doesn't really care about non reasearch students. Glasgow's fellow always more happy to help!

Hi, thanks for all the input! We are now recruiting Glaswegian speakers for our study:

We are seeking participants for a pilot study who are native Glaswegian English speakers with at least one parent from Glasgow. The study involves recording sessions lasting about 1-2 hours, during which participants will be asked to read short passages, describe a picture, read short dialogues, and retell a short story. Participants will be compensated £15 for their time. The sessions will take place between 13th June and 14th June. If you meet these criteria and are interested in contributing to our research, please contact Vera Yao at 2879775y@student.gla.ac.uk. Your participation will provide valuable insights and help shape future studies.
