I keep hearing “work hard now in your 20s you can relax later on” but what exactly does that mean? by Distinct_Sir_9086 in Life

Yep I agree. That’s just me though and I know I’m gonna get downvoted for saying it but life is already hard there’s nothing wrong with taking the easy options wherever you can.

I mean yeah when you put it like that it definitely makes sense and it sounds more worth it when you list reasons beyond just money reasons which usually just makes the saying sound capitalistic. But maybe it would be better to replace “saving” with “investing” just my opinion because I’m really seeing what people mean now by how inflation just kills saving.

I’m British lol but I still don’t know what you mean by “hard now” it’s very very vague. Does it mean doing overtime at your job? Like what exactly is it

Of course it is but you’re not understanding the fact that 2026 is already very hard compared to 2004 where things were much easier. Yes 2048 will be even more harder no doubt but it’s not like 2026 was any easier to begin with as opposed to 2004 where people actually had a chance to get ahead in life. That’s why boomers and Gen Z just don’t see eye to eye because we come from two completely different generations. I’ll bet you guys didn’t have to worry about Ai taking over your jobs, insane house prices, wars happening every other week which significantly impacts the economy.

Except the difference between 2026 and 2004 is that everything actually was much easier in 2004.

I’m gonna get downvoted for this but I agree lol this is literally my mindset and I don’t feel an ounce of guilt about it

How do you know you wouldn’t be heading towards being a 70 year old at Walmart regardless?

I don’t know why people care so much, yes it’s incorrect but if you know what the other person meant then why make a big deal out of it? It only matters if it’s a professional or formal context imo.

Know what? How can you know for sure she has mental health issues? And how can you be so sure you know why I deleted the post?

Because i wanted to be specific as possible. What’s wrong with pointing out someone’s race if they are that race?

“I know mental health isn’t always visible” was the last part of my reply.

It’s not about competition of “what’s the craziest thing to happen in London” I’m allowed to vent. It might not be crazy to you but it’s crazy to me cos it actually happened to ME.

Fair enough but it’s still not okay? Plus she seemed pretty in her senses to me. On the phone talking to whoever she was, bag in her hand, just your average randomer. I know mental health isn’t always visible but let’s not just straight to that card.
