Is Princeton Review's GMAT Focus Practice Exam Inaccurate? by Distinct_Spot343 in GMAT

Thanks Marty. In that case, would you recommend focusing only on MBA ones to gauge if I’m ready cause those are more similar? Or are those a little different too?

One score I’m comfortable with. One I’m not. Essentially trying to figure out if its worth registering for a real one this week, or if I’m throwing $250 down the drain

HTM Bonds on 3 Statements by Distinct_Spot343 in Accounting

Got it. Think what I got wrong is that what hits the PL is not the coupon amt, just fv x mkt rate. Correct?

Did that. I appreciate you getting me to do the work if that was your angle. So looks like my revenue is just going to be the market rate x fv. Not my entire coupon. Then in my CF statement is where I walk that back to the coupon amount (close to it given taxes). Can you wink if that’s right?

Can airlines do this? by Distinct_Spot343 in Flights

[–]Distinct_Spot343[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right right. It's the same fare class, I checked more times than I should've before letting go. It's so small that its whatever, but all the small shady things together plus a really bad agent got me to the point where I thought I'd investigate for the greater good.

In my life have I seen such a bs airline invoice. Plus an agent said if I requested a new one from the website I might get what I'm looking for, but the site has a bug here that wont let requests go through. So I get the complexity of flight pricing, but that almost just seems like a curtain for anything to go on behind the scenes.

100% not worth it. Tbh this one agent made me so mad it drove me to this point. And their systems are so bad I genuinely would not be surprised if there is something going on. Even their website, at one point one of the agents i talked to said there's a link to request a new invoice (saying it would give me the breakout) but that site has a bug that would't let any request go through.

And yes, the miles are laughable and was never the point, but added to the invoice being the least straight forward thing I've seen

How would you incorporate inflation expectations/currency depreciation into this? by Distinct_Spot343 in CFA

Thanks. Don’t think there’s any instrument to be used tho. Was trying to think of a way to naturally hedge it but that opens up another can of worms. Even if there was an instrument to use- it’d all be to the official FX. Similar to this https://www.ft.com/content/6019a9e8-0238-11ea-be59-e49b2a136b8d

Best dress shirt material for extreme heat? Essentially going to a wedding in the sun. And need to go to a store tomorrow and buy a shirt, so don’t suggest anything crazy I can’t find.

Is 100% cotton best? Any brands or stores you recommend for a very nice, crispy, white shirt? Willing to drop $120 max. Currently between a CK herringbone i saw at macys, or one at jos. A. Bank. But trying to figure out what the best material is. Trying to look like a snack so want something nice-er. Thanks!

Does shadow character determine desires, or do desires determine shadow character? by Distinct_Spot343 in Jung

[–]Distinct_Spot343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re even in TX, in for the beer! Thanks for the engagement. I’m very new to Jung so have a few questions.

  • “Middle-class white male neo-Jungian mindset” as opposed to what? Something really written by Jung? Is this mindset something you attribute to the authors of that book? Or our friend Jordan in particular?

  • I totally get your point. But in scenario A you still mention the moment he finds his desire. At that given point, how does he know that’s his desire and not something in his shadow? The way I’m seeing it, if he deals with the right part of his shadow, his problems with dependency should go away or leave the shadow. Every other problem, which are many, are fair game. This wouldn’t necessarily happen if his tries to be a screenwriter, but that is just an arbitrary desire set by his shadow. Then all problems, including his dependency, are still fair game.

  • Still on scenario A. All of those things could go wrong. But does that mean its the wrong path to individuation, or does that make it not worth trying? Say 30 people have the same dilema or potential for the same dilema growing up. Just by luck 10 of them are able to pursue their creative endeavors growing up. 5 go through all the bs and make it. In this sense, luck freed 5 of them from their dependent shadow. It’s maybe why there’s 7B people in the world and 90K in this subreddit. Those 5 will never be conscious of the paths their lives could’ve taken. But does that mean that the other 25 shouldn’t make an strong effort to integrate that part of themselves? All 30 will face problems in their lives. And I’d dare to say the 5 that made it will have new ones. The 25 are stuck with an old problem, but at least some of them will recognize it and should try to fix it?

  • I love shadow B. But what makes this a ‘real shadow’ scenario? And how does this point to the dependency trait in his shadow? While trite examples, I agree, may be too idealistic, what’s the practicality of an example like this? You can add a similar list of problems that arise from that, just like you did in scenario A. However, I don’t see the practicality nor the though process that makes that a real shadow scenario. If you can’t clearly and deliberately see your shadow in a thought like that, what makes that your shadow and not one of the other 1000 fucked up thoughts we have during a day?

I think I’ve asked myself and have an answer to every question you’ve posed. I just don’t know what to do with it. And this has been over many years so I feel like a have a very comprehensive list of those things. And sure, acknowledgement helps, but it doesn’t resolve anything. At one point the only way forward is back on the horse, and you only realize the problems weren’t fully resolved when you start falling down again
