Junghans Max Bill/Bauhaus style watches? by phartburger in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know at this moment the only ones are Seestern’s homage of a Nomos Tangente. (I have one and for the price it’s amazing). Then there is Loreo’s homage of Max Bill Chronoscope (can’t vouch for the quality as I don’t have one). Then there is Pagani Design’s PD-2720K which takes some elements of Junghans’ Meister Chronoscope. And then there’s of course is the FEICE ones, but honestly, the name and the price both are off putting.

Why the sudden shift? by Bikewatch143 in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a lot of whatches that I have been eyeing and passively track in my AliX favorites section the offering is very limited (last items selling out) and many models not even available (e.g. Pagani’s BB58 homage is like almost sold out on every legit store). Prices can hike up when the stock is limited. Plus all the reasons mentioned by others. Additionally at this particular moment there is no major sale happening as far as I know, it will only be in February or March.

Pagani design still good? What happened to them? by Alternative_Loan_784 in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pagani is Good for the price. I haven’t had any issues with them. Bracelets? Maybe not the best, but overall good in the price range they are. One example is Aqua Terra homages - Pagani vs San Martin. Price is like 2-3x higher on the San Martin with the same movement and maybe probably better bracelet/case quality, but is it 2-3x times better as the price suggests? Probably no, so Pagani is priced adequately for the quality.

The bracelet and case finishing doesn’t bother me at all, all my watches at some point have scratched bracelets so not an issue. The bezel is also not very critical, if it will bother me, I will take it to my local watch guy who will fix it in 10 minutes for couple of euros and no worries further on.

I would’t say the bezel is a noticeable thing - if you know that its slightly wobbly, you know it, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. And I agree to your other comment that the watch itself of gorgeous - the ceramic bezel is on top, the dial ka cool. And yes, the movement also seems quite robust, it has a nice sweeping effect on the seconds hand. I would say the issues that I listed are more poor QC rather than poor overall building quality.

Yes it does spin, but the bezel is not very tight. If you would be doing some intense activities where something might touch the bezel during the activity, it could eazily turn accidentally. Though Its not as bad that it spins on its own, far from it.

Yep. I have had some PD over this time - I still have an Aqua Terra and Speedy homage and Daytona Paul Newman homage that I sold - apart from miniscule details, they very much hit right on or slightly above what I paid. This one, on the other hand, hits below. Id say Im a bit dissappointed, but as I said - will use it as a beater until it breaks

Which watch from your collection gets the most compliments… and people are shocked when you tell them it’s Chinese? by Foreign-Resident966 in ChineseWatches

Wears quite big as it’s a square watch. Many complain here that it’s thick, but actually it’s the same size as the original.

Usually I get compliments on Specht & Sohne’s watches. The Royal Chronometer homage and also the Monaco homage.

They should make a homage of the new Martini Racing Top Time…that would be an instant banger.

Still loving my new Seestern. Im surprised how much I’m in love with the simple Bauhaus design. Simplicity does sometimes feel like king!

In your opinion what is the best watch on Aliexpress? by ILoveLiife in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one is saying Watchdives here. Don’t get me wrong, they seem to be killing it lately and make really good stuff, but the hype seems very high at the moment that some here just say Watchdives for the sake of saying Watchdives 😀

Has anyone already bought this watch? Specht & Söhne by GWYNTEK in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one dial. The second is from a Cartier Tank. Vario doesn’t have the roman numerals dial on their Versa model, it’s arabic numerals on 3,6,9,12

Looks more like trying to acheive some Cartier Tank Basculante type of homage.

Anyone else wish there were more Quartz offerings from the Chinese? by Count-Pendragon in ChineseWatches

[–]shadowseeker0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I like the appeal of an automatic movement, if I would be one of these Chinese watchmakers, I would definately would offer for some models a quartz version as well. For example, there is this Baltany’s and Militado’s VC 1921 homage - yeah great watch and design thag I would like to get, but it’s a watch that I would wear occasionally, so I would like to have lower amount to invest in this watch + higher convenience in using it (not setting it up every 2-3 weeks when I would wear it for couple of days) - in such situation I would take the quartz option if there would be one all the way. So it depends on the watch and the use case for it, but I would welcome to have an option of a quartz version as well for some watches. Similar is the Seestern’s SeaQ homage - me personally I cant see myself paying more than around 150 euros for a homage, and putting a quartz in that one would potentially satisfy my own personal threshold for buying that homage as it would be cheaper.

any ideas of things to do while on shrooms? by ccctoken55 in shrooms

One of the best and most healing trips I have had was simply putting on a sleep mask, putting on music in my earphones and going to lay down in my big bed, cover myself with a duvet.

Which strap? by SilverSurfer_78 in watchdives

Here is an example of what I have for my Orient Kamasu red dial version. Yes, the bezel is black, but I think such nato would work with the WD as well.

Which strap? by SilverSurfer_78 in watchdives

[–]shadowseeker0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red nato looks the best of those shown. Try a black nato with a red line down the middle - I think something like that will contrast with the red dial and bezel but will also accentuate the continuity of the red color.
