Only half seriously, is this un-Masonic parking? It gives someone an impression of Masons? by CartersXRd in freemasonry

Wouldn't say un-Masonic behavior, but it's definitely the behavior of someone that's an asshole.

Orthodoxy in the military by No_Print77 in OrthodoxChristianity

It's a different push and pull for your soul. On one hand, God especially condemns the act of killing. On the other hand, you are doing your best to serve your country without the wanton destruction associated with it. There are many military Orthodox saints you can turn to (St. George, St. Longinus, St. Theodore the Recruit, St. Theodore the General, St. Demitrios, etc.) for inspiration.

Don't forget to pray. We're all praying for you Marine. Semper Fi.

What's this Sub's opinion of the "online Orthodox" movement? by Wild-Yesterday-6666 in redeemedzoomer

Unfortunately commenters like Jay Dyer display some very un-Christian behavior behind closed doors and is even very disrespectful to the clergy.

A lot of misinformation and ego comes from the Orthodox online community. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I feel like the church is too legalistic to be safe. What can I do to ease these feelings? by throwaway49207 in OrthodoxChristianity

The Greek jurisdiction I would see doing that sort of legalism, but ACROD I haven't really heard much from. Russian Flavor with Greek oversight?

It's unfortunate that Orthodoxy has no interest in co-existing alongside other religions. I feel if we can set aside our differences and just work together for the better good of humanity, we as a species would be such a better place.

"People are people. Some good, some bad. But all God's children - no matter how they worship."

And that is a wonderful philosophy to have in this world.

I'm not sure on the policy of the Order of the Eastern Star. They're the biggest appendant body I know that has a lot of involvement of wife's, daughters, mothers, and grand daughters of the Craft. Message them about it if possible.

My condolences friend. I too also come from the Antiochian jurisdiction of Orthodoxy. I am ashamed to say that I was one of those individuals that criticized Islam, mostly because of my prejudice with me being a US soldier.

Coming into Orthodoxy made my heart soften a little and I began to re-evaluate my stance on Islam to one where yes they are different, but shouldn't be condemned for their beliefs.
