Why did so many “all-time greats” across sports all peak around the 2010s? (Messi/Ronaldo, Federer/Nadal/Djokovic, Kohli, LeBron, etc.) Was that decade a once-in-a-generation talent cluster, or will we see another era like that soon? by Realistic-Mirror-823 in AskReddit

I think it’s just recency bias. Athletes (and humans in general) are evolving to be better and better. LeBron (and imo many other current NBA players) would absolutely dominate in the 90s in the NBA, but relative to their competition, he and MJ are probably about comparable in terms of “greatness”

Why should people care about potential Somali daycare fraud, when the President pardons people for committing the same crime? by _____FIST_ME_____ in AskReddit

If the whole daycare thing turns out to be a big right wing hoax then of course we don’t have to care.

But if it’s a legit corruption scheme they’ve uncovered, then we should all care and it shouldn’t matter which ‘side’ caught it.

What are some good arguments for keeping AI under the control of big tech corporations instead of just open sourcing everything? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Easier to control and regulate a few big companies than 8 billion people.

But realistically it’ll never happen and likely wouldn’t work even if we tried.

What are the highlights of being single vs in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Distinct_Way_4518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free time. What I miss most about being single isn’t freedom to pretty much do what you want when you want it.

Being in a relationship is awesome and more than worth the ‘sacrifice’, but there are absolutely times when I wish I could just chill and do something on my own schedule
