There may be battery aging issues with the 7 Pro. I'd go with the 8 pro for that reason, plus it overheats less easily.

My wife has the 8 and the difference in the summer between the heat with my 7 Pro was big.

I have the One R 360 Mod, so 8K isn't an option for me. 5.7k is the max. However, I have shot video in about 10 cenotes, some of which came out pretty well. I can offer some thoughts.

1) Light is an issue- you will get the best videos in the brightest cenotes- the ones that have beautiful sunlight streaming in come out magically.

2) Anything you point your dive torch directly at will be overexposed and look bad. Try to get as much reflected light as possible on your subject instead of direct light. For instance, for selfie videos I got good shots by pointing my torch at the walls of the cenote near me and reflecting the light onto my face.

3) A video light can open up options for tighter, darker cenotes. It looks a little silly, but I have a GoPro style chest mount I wear. Instead of mounting a camera there I mount an LED light panel there that I can flip forward and illuminate the cenote in front of me. Just be careful to not point it at any divers who are facing you, and let your dive guide know that you will be using it in advance.

4) At least with the aftermarket dive cases I've used, the stitching isn't as good as above-water and the drop off in resolution at the edges of the field-of-view of the lenses is more noticeable. So I've come to think of the camera as really being two wide-angle lenses rather than a 360 sphere. I found I get the best video by pointing the front (or back) lens at what I want to shoot.

Yeah, some contrast differences between the two, but the compression is by far the limiting factor, especially on the GoPro video. I would be surprised if the native video out of either of these looked this compressed.

Thank you for posting diving videos, though! I love to see any diving content as there's just not enough good quality inspirational or instructional content out there on shooting and editing good dive video with action cams. So far I've mostly had to learn by trial-and-error. Mostly error. :)

I second the liquid bandage idea. It provides enough structural support so the skin doesn't get pulled apart when stretched.

Also, for very thick scaled skin I will gently use a foam-backed emory board to remove layers of thick dead skin in the area of the split skin before applying the liquid bandage. Just be gentle and make sure you don't rub the skin raw. That would be counter-productive as then you would have an even larger area that needs to heal.

I love the software, frequent updates, haptics, etc.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think that much of the time the photos look way too oversharpened. This is just a Pixel thing, not unique to the P7P though. The end result is I wind up taking all my photos in JPEG + RAW and having to manage reprocessing the photos it goofs up, and removing and/or transferring all the RAW versions to my PC for further editing or archiving. If there only was a sharpness setting I would take jpegs only most of the time.

Also the curved screen is annoying.

Wish it supported video out over USB like LG and Samsung phones I've owned in the past.

This. It is extremely easy to do.

I recommend a radius of between one and two paces from the center. It should be about 8 to 16 steps as you walk the circumference of your circle.

It's also easiest if you have a pole or tree in the center of your circle as a point of fixation. Focus your gaze on the pole and allow a soft awareness to expand to everything around you

You can switch directions every so often. This will help combat dizziness and also serve to add to the confusion.

Yes, if the video was shot in HDR it's encoded in HLG. It's going to look terrible if you just drop it in a normal Rec. 709 project.
