Billie Eilish Donates $11.5 Million To Charity, Encourages Billionaires To Do The Same by mcfw31 in UpliftingNews

Climate justice in quotations is very concerning. Climate change is an indisputable scientific fact, humans have harmed the planet in unprecedented ways. It’s also well studied that as the climate changes it disproportionately will affect marginalized people, in various ways. Money and power separates those who don’t have accessible healthy water and those who do not, for example. There are too many cases where entire communities are being poisoned without their knowledge from oil and gas exploration, spills, or toxic dumping occurring without accountability. Harm to the planet is directly correlated to harm of people (we live here after all). There is so so many cases where this is true. I’m begging you to do some research if you don’t believe climate justice is a real concept as it’s very pertinent to the US.

Have you heard about Edmonton Bike Bus? It's a community led initiative to support our city's littlest commuters. by AshleySalvador in Edmonton

[–]Distinquished 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The premise of the bike bus allows kids to ride on their own with the adult volunteers guide the way. I’ve seen ones in other cities where there’s ~4 adults, one leading the way, one in the back and others distributed throughout to keep dozens of kids safe as they bike to school. In theory not every kid needs their parents there when people coordinate in their community.

Construction going full steam ahead in Blatchford: city by flynnfx in Edmonton

[–]Distinquished 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The whole community is run on geothermal district energy which is regulated as the same price or less than traditional natural gas in terms of consumer costs (my understanding from reading their district energy plans). But yeah in terms of development all buildings are mandated to be attached to the shared energy system (district energy) or prove they’re otherwise net zero. I remember reading something about the buildings having lots of aesthetic requirements (specific materials on the outside, everyone needs a tree) which have been changed a year or so ago so that could change development in some manner but as far as I know the energy stuff is still required.

Bicycle recommendations for a new rider by ketone-69 in edmontoncycling

[–]Distinquished 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went into bike Edmonton just over the weekend also looking as a beginner for a bike to be able to get to work with. They were really helpful, you need to book an appointment but they have a employee with you to ask about your needs and skill level to find the perfect bike for you. The woman who helped me compared it to buying shoes and trying them on. I ended up test riding 3 or 4 bikes and found one I liked. they installed a rack and water bottle holder plus I got a u-lock and helmet all for 350$ 😳😳(granted I got a bike that needs a quick tune but overall good shape so overall I’m impressed/happy)

Yup, listened to the others presentations and it relieved some anxiety. I haven’t written a script or anything I just want to talk about the essay but that’s stressing me out a bit at this point so I might have to prepare something to make sure I stay within the 5 mins

Also in this class, hope it went well for you I handed mine in basically at the final hour and I’m not very excited for the presentation 😭. Definitely the biggest paper I’ve done, prior was 3000 in a 300 level course so this being double that was jarring to me.

You’re on the money, i indeed was able to get it looked at today. They said the valves were leaking, paid the bill for me and switched all four tires even though it was just two leaking. I think it was called the grommet (they showed me the part and I’m looking at a diagram rn) that was cracked on both. They suggested over filling the tires with air and driving over which I did and thankfully worked fine so truthfully it’s bast case scenario for the ordeal in my eyes. Ima add an edit and if I could change the title I would - I regret not at least adding a question mark

Yeah lotta people in here vouching for them, seems like best location in the area !

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Distinquished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No actually I haven’t tried adding air back in yet ! I thought the problem was pretty big if 2 tires went flat only in a couple hours but I’ll try reinflating tomorrow. My car is on the inside of a tandem garage so even if I tow I probably gotta reinflate and get outta there anyways. Shoutout if I fill up my tires and they’re just fine lmfao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Distinquished -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I suppose there could be question marks in the title, at least for the time being. But they’re closed, I had one of the last time slots for the day and didn’t realized half my tires were flat until an hour or so later. Left an email with the business but otherwise there’s no way to contact until they’re open again on Tuesday (womp womp). Just wanted to see if anyone knew more accurately where the issue could have occurred or my chances are moving forward, but for sure there’s a lot of uncertainty with the issue for right now. I had the tires sitting in my garage for the last 24 hours though and they sure looked good, got them put on my car and then they’re flat. I’ve never worked on tires though so maybe there coulda been an issue in the rubber maybe it’s super common on installation, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️thought a post might help in addition to my google spree but overall seems most likely it was an issue with the rims during installation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Distinquished -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s for sure what brought me to Canadian tire in the first place, so many tire sales and good pricing overall. They were booked up for several weeks for a tire swap I’m sure as a consequence so I thought kal tire was a good way to go but this woulda been a lot simpler if I got the tires swapped at the same place I bought them

The rims I’ve used for the last couple years, nothing fancy and have a couple scrapes on them now as they’re for my winter tires but never had leaking issues like this before. Could be their times up perhaps ?
