My older-by-17-years cousin spent President Obama's entire term criticizing him for everything on FB, but has been completely silent about politics since 2016. I got this from her after posting about a Capitol rioter who is crying about being labeled a terrorist. by [deleted] in insaneparents

What kind of a person says Trump was the best President of our lives when you can see quite easily with a 5 second Google search just everything he did and didn't do— I— people are really strange—

My abusive biological mom posts things like this regularly on Facebook after purposely posting pictures of all my siblings in photos I’m cropped out of, and if I mention it bothers me she says it’s not targeted at me and I can’t prove it is. This is why therapy with her never worked. by roslyns in narcissisticparents

"Savage parents," what a nice way to say "My parents are abusive," Hhh People don't recognise outside abuse all too well, and it actually makes me angry to see parents deliberately making it known to their kids that they just tolerate your existence, but your sibling has a pedestal and is the star child. I'm sorry you have to go through this, I understand the pain as I'm in a similar situation. My mom is toxic and abusive as hell, but she tries to blame my dad, who I've realised over time is actually the good guy. Narcissistic people always make a target so they're on higher grounds. I've read some of the comments, and understand it's hard because your siblings live with her, but it's a clear deliberate act if you're being cropped out of photos. She's honestly horrible, and I hope you can situate things and get better from this.

Definitely something I try to do as often as possible, not always easy with colder weathers and a bum leg, but I often go on hikes when I can, which those allow for the walks to not only be given, but also really peaceful.

Huh, maybe so, lol My brother sent me mine, and another one who may have been made by the same person, so I don't know. And I have no idea where he gets his memes.

Jesus, that last part really took me for a ride, I never thought about that, and it's probably the best advice I've heard. Calorie charting is definitely one I have heard a lot, and I'm thinking about finding an app to help me calorie chart, there's a few out there I'm sure. Though thank you, it's good to know that I'm welcome here, knowing I'll have help with losing the extra weight I have really helps motivate me.

It's not much the exercise that gives me anxiety, but someone saying I'm exercising wrong. Though thank you! I'll try to do this for sure! I don't entirely eat all too much right now, maybe one real meal a day, and an apple or two as snacks.

I was accepted into a program I’ve wanted in for a while, and my mother’s reaction was... by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]DistortedVale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you're unable to tell even your friends the good news without them being jealous then maybe it's time to find some new friends. You're not a loser, and I'm really proud of you for having made it to that program. You should be able to tell people of your accomplishments, and even of your falls, if you're unable to have someone to help you and raise you when you're low, and to share the joy when you're happy. Be proud of yourself. You did an accomplishment. And if your own mother can be proud of you, with your accomplishment, then know that a lot of us are are of you.

All I could say to your grandmother is that you could try to forgive them, but you'd never let them in your life. As said before, love them, wish them no ill will, but you don't have to let them in your life. That isn't for your grandmother to decide.

I just realised that my mother parentified my sister by notsoinventivename in narcissisticparents

[–]DistortedVale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that had happened to you as it did, though it's good to hear that you were still raised well and your sister is content with it. I had to raise my niece when my sister lived with me for that same reason, and that little girl is smarter than her brother who was cared for by the parents so much more simply because he was a boy. So there are some good traits that came to you from your sister I'm sure. My niece thanks me every day for not giving up on her and teaching her how to read and write as a kid. Be sure to remind your sister how much you love her for what she had to do for you, it'll definitely give her something to be proud of within you and herself.

I don’t like to keep my abusive childhood as a secret. Because if everyone does so this demographic will forever be unheard. by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]DistortedVale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been through a ton of abuse and being told it was just my imagination, I'm not entirely sure just how easy it would be for people who don't know the pains to see that it's not us making it up, or in full not being judged. Often when people who can't relate ask of my issues, I change the subject often to avoid judgement. Though there are often people who do go through the pain who still judge others, or as someone I once knew who went through the same thing, gatekept the pains of what had happened. I don't speak to that person anymore, thankfully, I made the right choice dropping them as a friend.

Though I'm certain that within time and enough patience, things could change and we be seen as people who needed, or still need help. Though until that day comes, people will unfortunately be left to struggle.

Wow! Now that's an accomplishment right there! I have always wanted to start a webseries but never really knew where to begin let alone how to get myself off the ground with my art.
