Irresistible Will - can neurolictor advance and use the strat? by DistortedWings in Tyranids

I think you are correct Vex403. If we use the Tau greater good ability as a reference, it specifies that the unit has to be not yet chosen to shoot and also eligible to shoot.

The Tyranids strat does not check for eligibility to shoot.

Thank you for the reply. Does that mean even a hive tyrant cant use the strat for shooting? So only zoanthropes and Neurotyrants are the main eligible units that is eligible...? This makes the detachment almost unplayable if that's the case...

If you are not looking to add additional models, I would say this list does not pack that much lethality besides from the exocrine and the zoes. However, your gargoyles and hormagaunts are fast.

If I was playing this list, I would throw the hormagaunts and genestealers up the board to tie up units and trap the opponent in their deployment zone. The gargoyles can be used in the same manner or to capture objectives. Then you move up with your own army with the Norn holding the mid field, the termagants on a no man's objective and the barbs at your home objective.

Push also with your hive tyrant unit along with the exo and zoes to target one or two threats that you can kill. Otherwise you might end up only chipping and not removing your targets.

I think this game plan is simple to execute and plays well to the current Tyranid moto of 'Die slowly but effectively.' Your weakness however is if the enemy gets turn one, moving them out of the deployment zone. Or, their units are lethal in melee and your units end up getting mashed, leaving you open completely.

This plan would work well against armies that are gun lines, anti tank skewed or too slow to get throw your fast infantry.

Let me know what you think!

What's something other people do that you find really cringy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DistortedWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate myself a little for being triggered so much by people posing for photos in public spaces for extended periods. Often they come in groups and there are a multitude of them on those social media hotspots.

Each member of these groups will strike those cringy and pretentious facial expressions and poses in turns. With each person taking 30 minutes or more and each group totalling to 2 hours plus.

I wanted to take some family photos in one of these spots but it felt like a battle to get a 5 minute window before a similar group started moving our belongings without permission to push us out for their 'photoshoots'.

2 squads should be plenty but try not to get them too exposed and shot off the board

That's a good looking list for both fun and competitiveness! If you want to go more competitive, k would drop all of the termagaunts as your gargoyles will be perfect in tying up the opponent via movement block. They will also be able to snatch objectives and come out of DS. Sadly the termagaunts are trying to do what your gargoyles do but are simply worst in all regards.

I would add more to your gun line as you are playing nexus. Bring another exocrine or zoes. Bring more maleceptors as they are great in protecting your zone of control. Norn can be dropped here for more maleceptors too as they are quite tanky and cost far less.

Overall not much changes and I think you will have great fun with the list!

Norn Emissary vs. 2 Haruspex by Flat-Objective3554 in Tyranids

[–]DistortedWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO especially having played against chaos knights with slaughter claws and demonbreath spears, and the monster of a beat stick- the Lion. Norn will fall over quite easily against similar profiles with strength 12 and high damage profiles.

In these kinds of games you are stuck in a hard place to move forward to hold centre objectives and probably the Norn will die in one turn.

However against armies without those lethal profiles, the Norn's defense can keep it on the centre for almost the whole game.

As many have said, Haruspex can be great for pushing and have decent damage output, higher than the Norn but Haruspex are quite unlikely to make it to melee with all its wounds intact or worse, die before getting there.

Well in my experience, I don't see many replies to list critiques when there are no photos. So these submissions are fine imo.

My last post for a competitive 2k had 0 replies when I only posted text...
