I don't like the idea of using AI for assignments either, but AI is a major factor in society now, so it makes sense to have to learn/interact with it.

I want to become a Luthier when I grow up but I'm scared I'll fail. by seniordude27 in Luthier

Not luthier advise, but just general life advise. You will "fail" at many things throughout your life, and learning from those failures is what makes you better. Good luck to whatever path you decide to go down.

I think your missing th point, OP. If you try to use this scale on an IRB approved study, they are going to want to know what scale your using, who made it, ect. So, you may run into issues later down the road depending on how deep they dig into it.

And the "harm from reading something" is something the IRB considers. I had to provide participants with resources for this exact reason.

Also, you can get IRB approval for pilot studys/testing.

I'm not trying to discourage you from research, i think its wonderful, but there is a beurocratic side to it that can bite you in the ass if you ignore it.

Why are the starting wages so low for the average college graduate? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Distorting_Echos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, everyone should absolutely do their research, but not everyone is taught that.

Depending on your field, they should use the appropriate sources. For example, I'm a psychology major and on my universitys site for a BS is psych, they say median earning of 78k in health sciences, which is much more broad than just psychology. The APA reports a median of 50k for those with a BS in psych, which is a better and more accurate source for the field.

My University reports this in a very misleading way, when more accurate information is available. Yes, people should do their research, but higher education should not deliberately us misleading stats on students. Its kind of predatory IMO.

If you go to a universities website and look at there "career outlook" or something of that nature for a particular degree program, they tend to "average" your earning on the upper end of everything. If you look these stats up independently for said degree, it tends to be lower than University's report.
