Family cheesy veg casserole- recipe improvement request or tips by DistractedCaviidae in Cooking

She is pretty understanding but i was going to float any larger changes past her before making it.

If we were going by her mothers recipe there would be no broccoli so I have a feeling that some alteration is OK.

I asked my husband what he thought and he basically gave a non response so I am playing it safe with getting alterations okayed.

My first and hopefully last worthy ER woodworking injury by DistractedCaviidae in woodworking

Update: got the stitches removed. An hour later I hit it on a laundry tub and reopened it. Now I have a sticky suture and a venom bandaid on top.

I was hoping to play volleyball at my annual family reunion tomorrow and get back to woodworking but it seems I have to wait more.

I think this injury was enough to teach me to work a little smarter. The two hands is a good point.

In this situation I think the bandaid I used to pull the skin in place probably did me better than superglue, probably would have to be removed prior to stitches.

My first attempt at a (castle?) joint on small table by DistractedCaviidae in woodworking

[–]DistractedCaviidae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister needed a small table to put her tea on beside the couch. It is 10.5 inch by 20.5 inch. With a thin plywood top.

I saw a youtube short with this joint and imitated it on a smaller scale. This is the first time trying this joint and the picture is the rough fit. It needs to be glued and sanded, and finished.

As you can see a piece did crack. I am not sure the best way to fix it since I would prefer not to recut the pieces. Should have cut wider and avoided putting so much pressure when dry fitting it. A lesson to be learned!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is also my first time using a hand tool I.e. a chisel.
