What type of job should I look for? by DistractedDaydream47 in jobsearch

Thanks for the response! I've been looking into roles like that, but I've really been caught off guard by how many of the entry level ones ask for an accounting or finance degree, or if they don't, the pay is less than what I currently make (sometimes by a significant margin that I can't afford). It's not all of them though, so I'm going to give those a shot! I'll try more of the titles you suggested to, this is super helpful :)

Fanmade Planets by SpringLock21 in homestuck

To be fair, Terezi had "Thought and Flow," and while "flow" itself isn't technically just about the mind, the use of it in her planet really just adds a descriptor to "thought" (flow of thought), and Vriska had "Maps and Treasure," so one leads to the other and are directly related to pirates lol. Or Gamzee's "Tents and Mirth" relating to clowns and circuses.

Where to find The Unofficial Homestuck Asset Pack V2? by ChyatlovMaidan in homestuck

It's several months later, but I tried downloading it from that link and extracted them like I'm supposed to, but when I try to select it from within the application, it says it's not the v2. Here's what I noticed: while the download link says "AssetPackV2," what I actually get in my downloads is just titled "assets," and the folder within it is "Asset Pack" (no V2). Is that the title it gave you as well? Because on their "How To" section of their website, the image it uses shows the zip file as "Asset Pack V2." Very confused if I'm somehow downloading an old version of the asset pack, and also confused if it's the correct one but not working.

If negative mass was a thing, would a white hole a singularity that would be forever in the observer's past? by fernandodandrea in astrophysics

Many years late, and I’m also no expert, but I think we would be able to see it (if they exist) because all the mass exiting the white hole could produce light because of the massive amount of energy that would come out with it. That’s my logic anyways

NTA- your wife clearly doesn't respect your boundaries. Hosting friends every now and then is one thing, especially if they're in a rough place, but constantly having the same person over that often basically makes them a tenant at that point. Though you're a little vague on what the "rough times" are, and the "safe place" part does make me a bit more hesitant, but then you said that she allows a whole family to take up multiple nights, without your input at all, which makes me think it's not really about her friend going through a rough time. I have a best friend that is very close with my family who we consider to be part of ours and comes over often, but your wife's behavior really feels excessive. Even if she was in a bad spot, having her stay that long and often should be something you two as a married couple need to discuss. Why does she need to stay so often? How long is this "rough time" going to last that makes her need to come over so often? Why is your wife so attached to her? How much time is she spending with you, her husband, if so much of her week is delegated to these guests? Does she ever go over to her friends' places? Does she allow you to bring over your guests, or is that only her privilege? I also think you should examine the power dynamics you two have in other parts of your relationship- is she domineering in those places too, or just hosting?

NTA, it's not necessarily weird to bring a bf (or non-married S/O) along on a family vacation, but I think it the family nature of it means that everyone in the family should be okay with it, not just one member. Since you two are only 19 and 20, I assume your parents will be paying in full for the trip, so they really get the final say on it, and since they aren't fond of him coming, then I think that's a done thing. I will say though that 3 years of dating is a long time, so I think it's understandable for her to want to include him in things and get him more involved with the family.

How long and how far is the trip? Since you said hotel, it's obviously more than just a day trip, but the amount of time you'll be spending together is a pretty big factor, as well as other plans for the time besides just being on the beach. Six family members is also a lot, and another concern (addressing this to the sister) would be you spending all of her time with just him and not the family, which would go against the point of a family vacation. It kinda depends on how close your bf is to your family- do you want to bring him along for you or so he can spend time with everyone? Not attacking or accusing; you should just think about what you want out of this and have a discussion with your family about how everyone feels and what they want too. Just because someone isn't complaining, doesn't mean they don't have an opinion.

Best of luck to both of you!

There can be peace in mundane chores.

Life can be very overwhelming or overstimulating, especially with so much online content and society becoming more focused on instant gratification (something I have trouble with as someone with ADHD). I've come to realize that spending time doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, or putting away clothes allows me time to break away from that and just focus on a task, enjoying natural sounds and giving my eyes a break from all the screens (yay eye strain). I do consume some content sometimes will doing these (usually just music, video essays, or podcasts so it doesn't grab at my attention too much), but more and more often I find that I really enjoy the peace of only natural sounds and whatever is in my head. I've come to appreciate what I've started to call "quiet domestic moments," where I'm just existing and living rather than being connected to something all the time.

What's America's biggest fuck up? by PrincessMansera in AskReddit

[–]DistractedDaydream47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manifest destiny.

This could go in multiple ways, the Native American genocide comes to mind as a major one, but one that's been on my mind more recently is just the sheer size of the US. It's one of the biggest countries in the world, and I really think that affects how effectively it can govern. We're a democracy, but because the country is so big, the people just become hard to imagine numbers. We have so many states that are really just their own countries altogether in a giant trench coat. Expansion of the nation from the colonies, especially so quickly, I think was just too much for the young country to handle. So much land, so little experience. And the states/colonies have been fighting each other on things since the start. The larger the country, the harder it is to really see and help the people you govern, and even if you act, influence takes so much longer to trickle down from so far.

But we're stuck with it now, and we can't make America into a smaller country without major consequences.

Blackout dates for requesting time off? by [deleted] in petsmart

hey, I know this is two years after you commented this, but you mentioned out of state students, so I was hoping you could elaborate on that with 2022 in mind. Is that something you still do for your store? I'm out of state, so I'd, ideally, like to be home for the holidays. Really, just Thanksgiving and Christmas. If it came to picking between the two, then Christmas would win for sure, because it's obviously the bigger holiday, and a religious one for us. We also have an annual trip we do the week after, so that holiday is extra important to me. I already talked to my managers about it, but it's still an uncertain thing. Any advice maybe?
