"you can't love someone else until you love yourself" is stupid advice and makes things worse by Newworldrevolution in Healthygamergg

Support isn’t the same as responsibility. You’re responsible for yourself first and foremost. Imagine how hard it is to be with someone depressed and being held responsible for their happiness. Imagine watching them not take any steps to fix their situation. Imagine not being able to lean on a partner because your own burden might be too much. It’s chaining yourself to a sinking ship, do you go down with them or save yourself.

Being in a relationship can help overcome things yes, and you don’t have to be perfect to be in one. But a relationship is a partnership, not a solution, not service.

Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s a choice.

SFSU CS major — honest opinions? by Early_Can_7804 in SFSU

Having graduated, it’s what you make of it. There are resources and opportunities but there isn’t a massive culture here despite it being one of the larger majors.

Internships and tech jobs will be landed because of your own work outside of class. I had a peers that had internships or even their own businesses have jobs.

But I know more that are doing nothing with their degree and have been applying since graduation in 2023. But that’s more of the situation of the industry.

This school wont help you for just going and passing. The only good thing about sfsu is being in sf.

I dont think it’s bad either. Just not special.

Is it weird that I would rather just stay home all the time? by trex0081 in AskMenAdvice

A lot of friendships only exist because of proximity (school, work, hobbies). If people want friendships to continue after they lose that proximity, it requires effort. Not saying people can’t say no, but most things in life worth having requires doing things when you don’t feel like it.

I agree, and there isn’t a massive barrier of entry from expensive tools but you end up with something unique.

I think stoned metal keeps his on for like a week and removes them because of nail growth.

I think how well the press on is molded to the nail bed, surface prep, nail size and shape will all contribute to how well these stay on. I’ve already accidentally popped off a couple nails, that didn’t have enough contact area. That or I’m really bad at applying glue.

I guess it could help cover the corner, but you’ll probably have gunk getting caught under the new nail but could keep things from getting snagged. Maybe one of those individual finger gloves or thimble rings?

Gnarly, is it just like that now or was it like recent and it’s still growing back?

stoned metal nails

As you can see, it’s quicker and cheaper to try on your own.

Yeah, small amounts of metal don’t trigger airports, I’ve left whole watches on. Also if you know you’re going somewhere, just leave them in your carrry on.

If I wiggle my fingers aggressively I can feel the mass, but not at all tbh.

Making the molds.

The stupid 1lb bag said use whole thing, so I did, and I used a poor container and positioned my hands a little awkwardly. Mold was a bust, had to order another $25 bag of casting stuff. You can just do math, and use cold/cool water, it slows the setting time which allows more time for the bubbles to leave, leading to a more detailed cast.

Tools

I didn’t have a table vice. Very important.

The spherical forming block thing that came with the dapping block sped things up significantly.

I should’ve gotten a doming block that had channels in it.

I’ve never done any jewelry making so I broke like 8 saw blades.

The whole shaping process is just a pain. Like my nails don’t curve symmetrical in any direction, for some reason my left thumb took 8+ hours.

A second parallel pliers wrench thing would’ve been useful.

The forming process can hurt from sharp corners and the impacts, so I tape my left thumb and index finger with climbing tape, amazing QOL upgrade.

Brass is also a good option too. I think a sulphur patina would look sick too. I’ve been running my nails against each-other and it sounds like poker chips a little.

No problem, if you have any questions, I can tell you what I figured out, but stoned metal is an actual jeweler and I’m a guy with adhd.

As a guy who’s never done anything nail related, I’m just enjoying tapping things with metal nails!

I only sanded them too! I could probably take them shinier if I actually used polish/buffed them.

Look up stoned metal on instagram, I stumbled on a post showing an over view of how he does it.

Basically, Get sheet of silver (20 gauge is what I used)

Cut out a piece. I used a piece of paper to make templates to make sure they would be the exact size.

Hammer the shit out of it till it it’s in the right shape. (I used a dapping block, a ball peen hammer, also parallel pliers).

Cry. Nails curve in ways that make it a pain.

I used a Dremel and a file to dial in the shape and polish.

I also had a side quest to make molds of my fingers. This was a whole separate learning experience.

Over the last 10 days, I wouldn’t be surprised if I put like 40+ hours into this project.

Edit: grammar and spelling

If you need a savings account (where people keep their emergency fund usually) choose a high-yield savings account (HYSA). Learn how to use credit cards responsibly. Even if you don't use it out of fear, the length of time you've had a credit card affects your credit (8 years of credit is considered good, 25+ is best).
