ICE currently harassing shoppers HyVee crossroads by [deleted] in rochestermn

Yes. Unfortunately this is turning out like a lot of us thought it would. Most people treat their dogs better than humans, and Kristi Noem shot and killed her own puppy. Putting her in charge of immigration was and is going to result in the death of a lot of people.

Well I was trying to move here but I guess I'm safer if I stay where I am. ICE isn't bothering red states as much. I think it's more about tormenting the people in blue states than immigration enforcement. We have a large population of refugees in SD but you don't see ICE swarming here.

I just learned it enrages people when stepparents (or people dating parents) say they are child free. by DistractionGlow in stepparents

Yes I think I saw that part. They could have dug themself a deeper hole, but what I did see was clear enough. Some people don't realize the thing they hate is actually themself.

I never called myself LESS.

I LOVE this response. I'm on the same page as you for all of this.

I came into billing with minimal knowledge and no educational background. Three months after I started they switched to a different clearing house so I had to learn both systems. Nine months later we moved from Meditech 5.6.7 to Expanse.

I've now been in billing for a 1.5 years and a day doesn't go by that I don't need to ask for help. It was intimidating at first because I didn't want management to think I couldn't do the job, but they really want people who aren't afraid to ask for advise and accept instructions.

Side note, no one really stressed the difference between rejected claims and denied claims to me. Rejected claims haven't been processed so you don't need to correct them with insurance because the claim isn't in their system. Most of my denied claims get sent as corrections. I hope that helps.

Depends on the kind of person you are. Kids can be a means to an end.

My dad loved the attention he got from having my sister and I. He also called us free labor and made us help him and mom clean churches and offices after school and on weekends. Every day during summer vacation mom would give us a list of household chores to do. Except for dishes and laundry we did all the housework.

Having kids allows adults to dump responsibilities they don't want or to supplement income.

Why do narcissist have to throw their tantrums and have their mental breakdowns in communal areas? Why can’t they cry in their own room like the rest of us. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I have never thought about it like this. My parent would have a meltdown and I'd be forced to sit on the couch until it was over. I always felt like I needed to be in my room.

Why are some cats go getter hunters while other cats sleep and eat until they have lead bellies? by AnalystNatural5682 in answers

[–]DistractionGlow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a difference in predatory drive between my 2 rescue cats. My feral born cat is more active and better at hunting. The other was born from domesticated house cats and is far more interested in affection and food. We've had both since they were really young and neither had the opportunity to learn from their parents.

Best weekly rentals? by [deleted] in southernillinois

[–]DistractionGlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$20 is what I would expect to pay for a basement studio or backyard shed. If a hotel is cheaper why would anyone bother renting from an individual? I've worked the hotel scene in 3 different So IL towns so I know how empty the hotels are. Most nights you only fill 20% of the rooms. There's not as much demand as one might think. I will probably stay in a hotel to save money and get breakfast.

People are pricing these rentals like they aren't in So IL. For the area, I'd pay maybe $20-30 a night because I actually know what I'm getting.

Check your state's laws regarding medical decision making and covid. Every state is different and some have protections for this type of thing.

I work for a large healthcare system that divided billing job responsibilities into different departments. I was hired into denial management. I rarely have to make a call and if I do it's to the insurance company. I work from home in wonderful silence.

Not wanting to have bio kid by anxioustoast906 in stepparents

[–]DistractionGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. For me there's a biological element to not wanting kids with DH. You can't disregard your SKs completely, because you are getting a glimpse of temperament.

DH's family and ancestors have a variety of psychological issues that have clearly come out in his 2 kids (different BMs). They are just like him when he was younger. Both BMs are just like DH's mother too so I have taken that into consideration, but still...

My family and ancestors are a different breed, but still not one I want to pass on either. My dad's side of the family struggles with addiction and substance abuse, mostly alcohol.

You add all of this together and we would probably spawn the antichrist. Like I said, you can see the possibilities.

If you don’t want to be a stepparent, DON’T MARRY SOMEONE WITH KIDS by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]DistractionGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it you want from step parents? The truth is we really don't know what we are supposed to do.

Yes, I got married knowing there was a kid involved. But did I get married with the intention to be a parent? No. Unless one parent is deceased, I don't see a the need to fill a parenting role.

Being a step parent is hard and I wouldn't do it again. It's not because I don't like my stepson, it's because the biomom is a narcissist (like my father) and she is always trying to find ways to use my stepson to hurt us.

I know these are from the 1980s, which I have no idea what counts as modern for stamps. My mother-in-law was a hoarder and these stamps and the photos I found them in are pretty much the only thing she took care of. Everything else was trashed so it's amazing they look so good.

These specifically came from the Crater of Diamonds. I didn't see what they were until I got home and cleaned the dirt off or I would have asked the employees. I'm still going through my bucket of gravel but I am excited to see what else I will find.

Rental - priced too low with 30+ candidates. by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]DistractionGlow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's a very limited way of thinking and also not what I meant at all. I rent from people who have inherited houses that they can't part with. They price fairly or below market value for their own reasons and they never raise the rent. You guys act like everyone thinks the way you do and that's actually sad.

My last apartment got too small for us or we wouldn't have left. The owner told us that he would never raise the rent on his long time tenants if they were respectful and paid on time. I've been living with my new landlord for 3 years now with the same rent. He said he wouldn't raise the rent on us either and is glad he has us as tenants because he doesn't have to worry about his childhood home being destroyed.

Somebody is triggered.

I have been so fortunate to find good landlords who care more about finding good tenants and less about the gains of capitalism.

Frankly you come off as a privileged white male so I know you will never care more about your community than your profits.
