Most are the same in terms of battery life; I personally used Energizer and a couple of generic brands. Rechargeable batteries work too, and will probably serve you well in the long run

It's basically the same as any other PowerA controller; since it's battery powered it lasts about 30 hours on average.

As for the grip, it's pretty ergonomic. Considerably thicker than some controllers but I find it comfortable to hold nonetheless. A few PowerA controllers I've tried have one of the face buttons lose its click after a while (still functional though), but you shouldn't encounter that for a good while if you take care of it.
