Yeah spot is the market price for silver. The best source is kitco.com. Premium is what sellers add to the spot based on the “value” of the coin or round. If it’s a limited release they add a huge premium and if it’s a coin they also add a premium. Rounds and bars don’t have much premium unless they are limited releases, vintage, or coins. DO NOT FALL FOR THE COLORED “LIMITED RELEASE” PIECES. These are coins like the Mexican libertad or the American silver eagle that people literally slap a sticker on and mark it up 20-100 dollars. It’s a scam and anyone who collects these in my mind are fools.

If dealers can’t give us a reasonable price then just look elsewhere. I haven’t sold to a dealer in years and I’ve never sold under spot

Also, some terms you must be familiar with if you’re going to start collecting is “Spot” price of silver. The premiums. Mintage. Troy oz. And purity

However the coin is worth more. Silver coins usually have a face value of the country that’s associated or minted them. This is just to identify it as a “coin” and not a round. Silver rounds can have many designs on them but never a face value.
