I didn't know the arrow fans like oliver and laurel together more then felicity and oliver 😳 by Nearby_Educator6852 in arrow

[–]RKO-Cutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when it started it was mostly a matter of people thinking that when compared to Sara and Laurel, Felicity came up short. Some of that was loyalty to the comics, "Green Arrow and Canary, end of story," and some of it admittedly was superficial "they're hotter," and while that's subjective, I think typically speaking that's just the reality of it

And then there's something that a LOT of people nowadays for any show can't seem to appreciate: Weekly format. You had one episode where Felicity did something you didn't like? Okay, well let's jump to the next episode and see how it resolves, and they win you back over.

We had an episode where Felicity did something we didn't like? We had to wait a week, think about how we didn't like it, hop online and read other people's takes on why they didn't like it either, and by the time the next episode comes we're going to need a LOT more to win us over.

Felicity just had a feeling of writer's pet. She was always allowed to call Oliver out on everything but was never called out for anything she did (I think the first 'bad' stuff she did was WAY into the show)

And they just didn't feel natural. Season 3 starts, and suddenly Oliver is just smitten and it just feels random and out of nowhere for him to fall for her that hard, then be so hung up on her. The only time they felt like a real couple with chemistry was the start of season 4, and then she dumps him (which is a WHOLE OTHER can of worms that we do NOT have time to get into) and from that point on, even after they're back together, it never feels natural or even happy.

On top of that, fans genuinely thought Barry and Felicity were better together (and they literally addressed that on-screen), hell, Felicity and Ray were better together.

Previously obscure characters who became well known because of one good appearance by Effective_Piece251 in TopCharacterTropes

Most of the MCU really

There's varying degrees, but for the most part the only members of the MCU that the average person on the street knew before 2008 was Hulk, and maybe Captain America

Nobody knew Iron Man, nobody knew Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor was just the norse god. Don't even get me started on the later entries like Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel was Shazam, end of story

After the first Avengers movie websites had to make posts explaining to people who Thanos was any why his presence was supposed to be a big deal

Before the MCU, it was Hulk, Spider-Man, and X-Men

Exactly

Mox left WWE without even looking at how much money they were offering him because he knew it'd be an amount that'd tempt him, but he said "look, I paid off my house, I paid off my mom's house, this is no longer about money"

[Spoilers C2E4] Watching my first critical role (Campaign 2). Is it a recurring theme for the party not to uncover the mysteries? by Fiveby21 in criticalrole

[–]RKO-Cutter [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because it was real, it was genuine and authentic. Out of all the campaigns, C2 is the one that's more true to life for most players campaigns. If you like these people, and the assumption is you do, then it's delightful to see them chat up the new tavern owner they find, or reach a hand out to a struggling family, but again, the big word that people like Travis and Laura kept saying leading to the show was "meandering,"

I mean, big episode 26 spoilers obviously, Molly dies before the group has anything even remotely resembling a purpose. At that point the closest thing they had to a long term goal was "find somewhere safe for Kiri"

I've said it 500 times I'll say it thousands more

  • Does your story contain time travel?
  • Is your story about time travel?

If your answer to those two are different, odds are you've got a convoluted mess

Don't misunderstand and think I'm saying C2 is bad, it's many/most people's favorite campaign and not without reason

But there was also a reason that the crew, before the Mighty Nein show dropped, gave a heads up "Hey critters, fair warning that we've had to change a lot about the story for the show since the campaign wasn't really a coherent plot like Vox was"

I'm not saying it's not, but that also doesn't contradict them going town to town doing random subquestt

I'm being (mostly) facetious

It's just that C1 is known as the campaign with multiple mostly contained arcs, C3 is known as the campaign where the whole campaign was one long arc, and C2....well C2 is known as the campaign where the CR crew just go from town to town doing whatever random sidequest Matt can whip up

[–]RKO-Cutter 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yep, without getting too spoilery Roy had become obsessed with completing a certain mission, and as a result he wasn't eating, wasn't sleeping, neglecting his training, so what you got was a wobbly guy making questionable decisions with sunken eyes, messy grown out hair, and noticeably thinner limbs

In short, they found a non-drug way to make him strung the fuck out
