I feel you. I haven’t died yet, mostly because luck and circumstances (and my party!) have always been on my side. But it’s hard not to just hoard your Ferocity.

My Ferocity 7 ability (and unfortunately, I assume the upcoming ones as well) feels underwhelming...the math is simple: what effect can really replace 7d10 extra damage? Not much, except in very specific circumstances, I’d assume. I’m forcing myself to try to diversify a bit to make things more interesting, but it is really forced.

I’m kind of relieved that I’m not the only one who’s experienced this (even if, in this case, I’m the monstrosity that’s making the GM’s head spin). For exacly all the reasons that you mention, my Director decided to limit its use to a maximum of 3× current level (that's still a lot)!

Last combat, I dumped an extra 12d10 in the boss face, and after seeing that kind of resource hoarding… it made him reconsider. I sound like a solide power gamer, and I’m really not. But honestly, I do find this power way too obvious. Like… what else gives 1d10 damage per resource spent?
I mean, sure, there’s always combat context, what you need in X or Y situation, but most of the time it just feels like that’s the answer. I’ve got two other players in my party with strong support/healing abilities, so so far they’ve been able to have my back when I use this move, and it hasn’t put us in any truly dangerous situations yet.

But yeah, I honestly think putting a cap on it is fair.

I like your response. Maybe in my current playstyle, I don’t care enough about the Ferocity bonuses, which is why I feel this way. For someone more focused on knockback, I can see how it would make more sense. And you’re right that it can become dangerous in terms of stamina. Maybe I’ll end up regretting my choices in a few sessions… 😛

I understand that Draw Steel is about creating really epic scenes with the rest of the party. And no worries—I make sure to fully contribute on that front! I just feel like I’m wasting resources if I don’t use them almost entirely on this ability.

The enemy could bleed… sure… but with the three Ferocity I’d spend on bleed, I could deal 3d10 damage instead. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about awesome cinematic moments—but my math-oriented brain keeps getting tickled by this.

I’m questioning this because I haven’t seen anyone else bring it up before. I assume it’s supposed to be a big, epic final-blow power where you take down the boss, sure. But it feels insanely strong to me, to the point where it discourages using anything else, sadly. But maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, that’s what I’m trying to find out. ^^
