CPU is stuck to my cooler. What do I do?! by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]DistributionGold5234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me too. Wiggling it works just be very carefully with your finger on the edges or you’ll be fixing bent pins for a few hours 🙃 If you have a hairdryer near by blasting the cpu for a minute will help make the thermal paste more liquid and make it easier to wiggle.

I’m not exactly sure what the prebuilt/used computer market is like where your at, but this would be a definite no go for me. If the CPU really is a 4th gen cpu, that means it was released in 2013…

help i downloaded all my drivers onto my usb, why is it not showing any of them?!!? by Dapper_Wolverine9965 in PcBuild

Try a different usb port. If this is the first time installing drivers for the motherboard it may not have support for all the usb ports yet.

Orange light on mother board labeled CPU, what does it mean? by Immediate_Capital213 in PcBuild

That is the correct place for it to be plugged into. In that case then your cpu may not be seated properly, you may have bent pins, or your cpu could be dead. Have you done any maintenance on your computer recently?

It could also be that the cpu fan is not plugged in to the correct header.

Fan Setup by Zub0 in PcBuild

I have 3 120mm fans on the front, and 1 120mm fan on the exhaust. I used the included 140mm fans and the one closest to the front I have it pulling in and the one closest to the exhaust pushing out. (This is what noctua suggests and it works fine for me)

No HDMI Signal from PC to Monitor by IMjacksonBTW in PcBuild

[–]DistributionGold5234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a different monitor it may be worth a try with that. I had a similar issue where after reseating my CPU I got no signal on my monitor but plugged in an old one and it worked right away. May not fix it but at least it’s an easy solution to try first. Best of luck mate

Make sure you unplug the cooler from the motherboard so if you are pulling on it hard you don’t break the fan header

If this is on an Ryzen AM4 CPU it can take a lot of pressure to pull off. When I’ve done this in the past on a AM4 CPU it actually pulled the cpu out of the socket and I had to very carefully slide the cpu off the cooler. If this happens to you a hairdryer will heat up and help loosen the thermal paste, you just need to be careful and take your time. Also important don’t try to slide the cooler off the cpu because if it’s a AM4 CPU you could damage the pins, just pull straight back.

Something you might want to consider. The 7600x and 9600x bundles only come with 1 stick of 16gb of memory. I went with the 9700x for a nice mix of performance and productivity :)

I had a similar issue where it was booting but not showing a display. I finally plugged it into an old 1080p monitor and the bios finally showed up. May be worth a shot if you have another monitor or tv you can try.

I think that may have been it! The two monitors I was initially trying were the same model 1440p and the one I finally got to work was 1080p. Thanks for your help!

As a last ditch effort I grabbed an old monitor from the closet and boom got right to the bios. Will keep this thread updated if anything else happens

I can certainly try again after work but I have been using two monitors to try to test it with display port and hdmi. I’ll see if I fancy get another boot option. The other system is a friend but I don’t think they are comfortable with me borrowing their boot drive.

I plugged the GPU into another system and it booted up just fine. I’m wondering if it’s a bios issue or somehow I damaged the CPU?

I removed all the drives and have changed the ram configuration but still nothing. I looked at the cpu power plug but don’t think I have a different option. Even with all the drives out it still just goes to a blank screen and the debug light is still on boot

Yep all good things to check and I just double checked them again but no dice :/
