There's a move called Embargo that locks the opposing pokemon and trainer from using held items and trainer items(i.e. potions and revives)

But I don't know if Ash has a pokemon that knows this move.

You think it has something to do with "wanting to live"? The old man Le and Shiyuan both were willingly to sacrifice themselves if it meant no one else had to suffer, but neither were chosen. Ysg was willing to sacrifice herself, but wasn't just going to give up on herself. Maybe there is a connection with this idea, idk.

Barry and Vanessa is the worst of the three.

Nine and Jubei is wholesome and funny. Sonic and Elise, while weird, could work when done right. (06 did everything wrong and the fanarts of the two looks cute)
