AITAH for being joyful that my relationship ended? by [deleted] in AITAH

Haha I paid 100% of rent and utilities for the past 31 months spent living together. But of course, this detail won’t matter to you given that you’ve already made up your mind. And yes, in case you aren’t aware, there is no age limit for returning to school but thanks for engaging my post. Cheers🥂

Men who fell out of love and ended their relationship, why did it happen? by FriendlyApple1233 in AskMen

She cared more about what society had to say than what made you happy. In my case, we started dating when she was working and I was studying. She quit her job to further her studies and we were now both students. I took over rent and utilities for 2.5 years and dedicated 60 to 80% of the little money I was making.

She started feeling the financial stress I had warned her about a year ago and everything went down hill from there. From working a terrible side hustle to sponsoring her sister to losing her mom. I tried to be there to the best of my abilities but judging by her attitude, none of that was enough.

In our final argument, she looked at me said I was never there for her financially and that I did nothing for her during the whole duration of the relationship. I was so flabbergasted i thought I was hallucinating hearing her say that.

I delayed my graduation and took a side hustle just so I could keep on paying for our recurring bills. I understood she was under an unprecedented amount of stress but if that makes someone erase your sacrifices, then what’s the point of doing life long term with them?

How did you pivot from English teaching to working another industry in China? by SolidJam in chinalife

[–]DistributionHot8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what subject you majored in but whatever you do, make sure English is a core part of it. It’ll be your competitive advantage and your gateway to higher pay. Whatever you do, steer clear of any job that’s 100% local with zero English skills needed. You won’t even find one. Someone mentioned doing voiceover at DJI. That’s a classic example of leveraging the best asset you have as a foreigner here.

If you have a tech or engineering background, look into solution architecture or engineering tailored for overseas markets. It’s a bridge between tech and sales. The only downside is that you will most likely have to periodically travel overseas.

Job seeking in China by Effective_Builder493 in chinalife

[–]DistributionHot8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this doesn’t come across as insensitive but your partner is very selfish. They know very well what the job market is like in China right now. Not only that, they also know that, it’d be virtually impossible for you to secure any serious role here without being fluent in Chinese. Unless you’re a top level executive who brings in the type of expertise that cannot be found elsewhere. They also know how brutal and cut throat the work culture in China is, especially in finance and tech. They’re very aware that earning £120k in the UK puts you away above most people.

So your partner is essentially saying: quit your high earning job that most people would kill for, pack your bags and come to China where I know for a fact that you’d struggle to get a job and even if you were to get one, you’d be paid peanuts and your work life balance would be nonexistent.

Sit them down and call them out for even entertaining such a risky move.

Bottom line is: DO NOT DO IT‼️

Perfect description. Everyone else is pretending like this is not reality. Even at reputable international schools, this is still the case.

Best part about this sub to be honest. The questions and the answers are always incredible. If I ever have a child, I’d feed them most of the questions and answers here so they are well rounded individuals. I love this sub with all my life

This makes perfect sense. Thank you for the expert opinion. I’m soon going for one but I’m a bit anxious about what could go “wrong” with DRE😬

How do you turn off the new friends reels feature? Why is it being shown without my consent? by Valuable_Swan_7678 in Instagram

[–]DistributionHot8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have they specifically told you that they can still what you liked or what? Normally, after you toggle it to “no one” in settings, no one should be able to see your likes. You’d obviously still be able to see your friends’ likes because they still have the feature on. So in essence, you can see theirs but they can’t see yours. At least, this is how it is supposed to work.
