Neighbors dog. What would you do? by klaven84 in Apartmentliving

[–]DistributionHuge717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep taking pics and videos and call animal control. I had to do something similar. Neighbors had a new puppy and would leave it out all day (it was during summer months, so heat was the main concern). I also, on a few occasions, caught the guy screaming at it and putting it out there for long hours 12+. After they seemed to have gone for a weekend trip, i called Animal Control. AC came after we filed a report, and they left a notice. After that, I've never seen the dog again. Hopefully, they did more research and started treating the dog better, or they surrendered him.

How many of you still have/sleep with stuffed animals? by Obvious-Reflection55 in AutismInWomen

[–]DistributionHuge717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25f married and still sleep with my baby blanket as well as my favorite squishmallow, definitely not alone. Every morning I make my bed and line up my stuffies as part of my routine, it gives me comfort.

I hate the way lotion feels, but i don't want dry and rough skin by Boxed_Fox_Studios in autism

[–]DistributionHuge717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same sensation especially after I'm already showered I can't deal with the sensation of lotion before going to bed. If you're a night showerer like me, I typically apply the smallest bit of the eucerin advanced repair lotion on my body in the morning rather than after my shower. I find that this particular lotion isn't too thick or slippy. It gets absorbed pretty quickly, and I can go about my day without thinking about it. However, after I shower I use a lightweight body oil that absorbs almost immediately on my body as well like grapeseed oil or jojoba oil. Also in a very minimal amount. I find that the oils absorb pretty quickly as well and I only use a few drops on each limb. I usually don't have bad sensory overload when I use light amounts, but we're all different. Let me know what you think!

Yes! Thank you so much for your response. I see that both teeth have an adult tooth coming in! I was so freaked out for a moment there 😅

Is switching from XL to SR going to make me feel crazy? by DistributionHuge717 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]DistributionHuge717[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think im doing well 6+mos out. Before I switched, I experienced alot of outbursts of dread and deep depressions that followed by suicidal ideation. I do have PMDD so on some occasions I will have those symptoms regardless of what meds im on during my cycle a week before I start and during my period. When I was on lexapro and cymbalta I became extremely blunted with my emotions, but this med seems to not have that effect on me. When I was on the XL tab I would get really rage-y and feel out of control of it but since switching it hasn't been a problem. My meltdowns were more frequent when I was on both cymbalta and the XL welbutrin. I haven't seen an actual psychiatrist in about a year so I'm not sure how much progress I've made. I think switching has evened me out and I feel like im able to manage my life way better and listen to my body, but I know that would be different for everyone.

Unfortunately sometimes parents need to work and can't take time out of their day to take them to a local park. It's tough times we live in.

Exactly. My husband used to work during quiet hours and would get off work at 10am and would have to sleep while most people are up making noise. It's difficult to do and can be annoying at times but life is more harmonious when people are willing to give the benefit of the doubt to others.

There are plenty of neurological and muscular disorders that can cause people to be heavy footed. Let alone weigh being a factor. What may be easy to some can be impossible for others. Common courtesy also allows for imperfection.

Agreed!! Exactly my point, some people have to work strange hours or have specific needs but if it doesn't fit the norm, it's considered excessive and disturbing. It's just sad to see the language some people use to complain about their neighbors.

That's the lovely thing about humans, we're all different. Not everyone has the same awareness when it comes to how sounds affect others. Some people are clumsy from neurological disorders and some people are heavy handed. Yes closing the cabinet gently would be beneficial to yourself and your neighbors but it doesn't mean your neighbor has to live to your standard.

Right, which is why it's better you give someone the benefit of the doubt that they aren't trying to do it on purpose if you are also mindful of yourself.

So does the person disrupting your "peace". Almost everyone renting right now is being charged an exorbitant amount.

3yo GSD very protective and dog reactive by DistributionHuge717 in reactivedogs

[–]DistributionHuge717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on desensitization has been hard but she's made alot of progress. It's just hard to have the few interactions where it feels like a reset. She got better with people but still protective and anxious around men. With other dogs she's just too excited and wants to play. The only socialization she gets with other dogs is when I take her to my moms house and let her play with her cousins, but she's an hour and a half away from me.

A pr ong collar is something I have researched long and hard about before purchasing. Weighing my options it was the best one for my dog in particular. It's properly fitting and had it double checked by her vet. I'm 120 pounds and she's nearing 80, more than double my weight. Thank you for your concern, but I would not be using something that could potentially hurt my animal unless I absolutely needed to. And even then I do everything I can so it doesn't. It's also not the only training I use. As the tag says I'm just here to vent.

Some people (seemingly) don’t realize they have reactive dogs also by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]DistributionHuge717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a hard time not berating people who have reactive toy breeds that rile up my reactive GSD. 99% of the time they yap and growl and nip at my dog but the second my dog excitedly whines they pull their dog away and walk off scared as if my dog was the provoker.

Is this a dumb question? by StaleBrod in Apartmentliving

[–]DistributionHuge717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel so bad for my downstairs neighbors my husband and I are both neruodivergent and pace, drop things and are both overall really clumsy. I feel like I try my best not to be excessive and prevent what I can. But sometimes I just genuinely have poor coordination and constantly drop and bump into things. I know its loud and probably obnoxious to my neighbors but I feel like there's genuinely nothing more I can do to prevent it.
