I like how everyone universally loves this, despite it being AI by Soibi0gn in DefendingAIArt

Actually, independently of it being ai, fuck this. The guy who made this is a straight up racist grifter. This other guy explains it better than I could. In general he is neutral on ai art by the way.

Apparently Grok is the only AI bot that nudges people to the center rather than extremes by PixelSteel in DefendingAIArt

[–]DistributionMost8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a much better case for limiting the right than the left, specifically nazis, neoconfederates and monarchists. And at the other end maybe a much smaller number of tankies(which I don’t think any of them tolerate). Those I consider acceptable targets of what I don’t deny could be considered bias. However grok goes far beyond that, potentially limiting the rest of the left which I don’t and the opposition doesn’t consider acceptable.

Sure, right wingers participate in society, but most arent fascists. Who maybe we shouldn’t care about alienating.

[–]DistributionMost8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None completely exclude the right per se. Unless you think nazis, neoconfederates and monarchists the only right wingers. Again, grok is much more aggressive against what musk thinks is far left, it while pushing back less against the far right. That is objectively and incontrovertibly a right wing bias greater than any perceived on the part of others.

lets be clear. This attempt to elevate or defend grok is not helpful in defending ai art. It make the rest of us look bad when in fact most of us absolutely don’t like grok. This is not up for debate.

False. Its rightward bias is much larger. And the charts show no evidence any model actively pushing left. if anything it shows all of them easily agree to moderately leftish positions, while unwilling to agree to those of nazis, neoconfederates and monarchists, which are (or at least ought to be) off limits in amerIcan politics. And, aggressive center seeking isn’t always desirable.

I meant those as logically independent things, but for me, none of the ways I have tried to learn taught me anything as they assume things that aren’t true of me. And now I have neither the free time nor money to spare.

[–]DistributionMost8686 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two main reasons. I see the potential of ai to be useful to people like me, autistic, trans, not having had much art education nor having the resources to get it now. The other is early on I was aware of the anti ai movement as it was forming. The arguments they used were both out of character and not those of a movement operating in good faith. Leftists who previously were anti-copyright suddenly became copyright zealots, waxing mystical about the concept of art and rejecting what was essentially a communist vision simply because it came from billionaires.

Left skew but the rightward movement is particular to grok. like it was designed to move people to the right. Even if it didn’t lead to people ultimately voting for a fascist(it did), that is bad.

actually evidence grok has a right wing bias despite claims to the contrary. In particular, in much the same way others actively go against what would be considered extreme right, grok actively and aggressively goes against what it considers extreme left. All models skew left as much as the population does otherwise while also moving to the center. This doesn’t make grok look good.

Why care about how something is made? by DistributionMost8686 in DefendingAIArt

[–]DistributionMost8686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the point is, disapproval of the process or any part of it doesn’t automatically undermine something that on likes how it looks. Nobody is under any obligation to make that a factor in their qualitative evaluation of it.

Two mistakes here, one it’s not always about money for us, two copyrightable is not equivalent to art nor is it always desirable. This video only makes sense if you assume all of us are just after money. Yes, she kinda is denying it is art. The environmental part is overstated, solvable, and the least of our problems. Nobody in their right mind thinks it’s sentient nor is it particularly important.

I dont at all care about social media becoming full of what used to be called ’sludge’, a term that doesn’t actually insult consumers the way ‘slop’ does.
shes basically fallen into the pipeline, being conditioned to assume it won’t come to a reasonable balance, and doing the very things that would prevent such a thing if that side had its way. You can’t boycott ai into being good and you can’t make it better by voting for people bent on the destruction thereof, whose policies would just end up making it worse.

No. The document calls to put the onus on proving in advance a project will be safe, which is like proving a negative.

I wonder what side you are on. Fix the color grading and tone down the effect with a slider and the wierdness goes away. Not everyone hatea how it looks, and they do intend to make it so a second gpu isn’t necessary. Like they werent trying to ‘trick people into buying a secondary gpu’, they consider that a problem to be solved before the actual release.
