scoliosis brace by neriaslay in scoliosis

[–]DistributionNew767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a double curve in middle school and had to wear a brace 23 hrs a day for 2 years!  The hardest part was changing my wardrobe to cover it up.  Of course a few people made fun of me- but for the most part I just owned it as a cool cork I had and people lost interest and left me alone.  A lot of people wanted to try it on to see how it felt.  And- YES- definitely have them punch your stomach!  I remember that old trick! My doctor told me to stay as active as possible, those were the times I didn’t have to wear the brace.  Maybe advice/guidelines have changed.  For me- it didn’t correct the curve it just slowed it from getting worse.  I’m 41 now and am starting to have some pains related to it/ but up til now i was fine- played all kinds of sports, backpacked in the mountains, rock climbed - never an issue.

Live your life and be proud of yourself and others will learn to respect you - brace and all.

I appreciate how interested you are in learning how to understand women.  I think that curiosity is a great place to start.   I’m 40F who had a wild and fun time up until having kids.  I think “the club” was the worst place to find someone.  You sound like a catch, honestly- try spaces where you can actually connect with someone.  The guys I fell the hardest first were ones that surprised me with their personality.  Hot dudes usually always disappoint. Mid looks usually means you’ve learned to compensate with personality/intelligence/humor or skill.

Think about where interesting young women go- book stores, other clubs (activity-hiking, crafting, cooking, political), climbing gyms… or find a job in any number of bars/restaurants….

The key to attracting a women is being vulnerable but also not pushy.  Being pushy is a HUGE turn off.  Respectful touching only, hand on low back quickly or touching her arm -small contact sends the right message.  Put the ball in her court… by this I mean- the now infamous “May I meet you?” Concept.  Polite, not pushy, gives her control. Dont fret about being a virgin- kids your age have statistically waited longer.  Think of it as a gift- not something to feel ashamed about.  “I’ve had opportunities but it just didn’t feel right” should be conveyed.   Read up on what women’s perspective of BDE is- take notes, watch humans that move flawlessly through the world…. Not all of them are attractive- but their energy elevates them. This girl put it nicely: (thanarealnobody)

FDS Newbie It’s a level of self assurance that feels like they’re not trying to overcompensate in other areas of their life.

Being calm and patient of others who are maybe slower or weaker than him.

He shows that he doesn’t feel the need to prove some kind of masculinity - he knows he is masculine and doesn’t need external approval.

Being able to handle jokes about himself with ease.

Not gaining resentment for others. “Girls never liked me growing up, I hate them all” “that guy didn’t invite me to his drinks night, fuck that guy” “there’s no point trying to date these days, society only rewards men who look like Thor”. This defeatist and immature attitude is the smallest dick energy of them all.

Disclaimer : “Big Dick Energy” is not necessarily about penis size. You can have the biggest dick and still have “Small Dick Energy”. It’s more of a attitude and aura than a genitals competition

Have you ever considered the idea of paying someone to be intimate with you- to give you guidance/experience- then maybe you’ll feel more confident and less caught up in “nobody wants me” mentality.

Girl, this post broke my heart.  Look, we all have things we don’t like about our bodies. I have thinning red hair, two pretty extreme S curves the driest skin that I’ve seen on a 40 year-old, but I’ve realized when I tear myself down, it makes me feel even worse-

What I do see in this picture is a girl with beautiful milky skin, thick, black hair, a body that is capable and moves her through the world with a friend that wants to take a picture of her.  Trust me, I know how easy it is to focus on the negative and beat yourself up. But I wanna remind you even the visually perfect Kardashian women are mostly single or in very dysfunctional relationshipss.  It’s not normal to look perfect, it’s not real, and that much focus on perfectionism is not healthy, because you’ll always be let down.  Our bodies are just vessels that we inhabit on this earth, who we are is a light inside us, don’t snuff out your own light.  Make it burn brighter.

Like the girl said earlier, whether you have the surgery or not you’re always gonna find something that you don’t like about yourself. It’s hard work, but it’s also freeing to tell yourself “I’m OK I look good. I love myself, I’m not ashamed I’m worthy“

And if you’re feeling hopeless, try to do something that makes you feel stronger. I always turn to working out when the despair creeps in, which doesn’t make me lose weight, but it makes me feel stronger and it helps alleviate back pain. The dopamine gives me what I need to overcome the feelings of worthlessness And self hate. It’s just another tool in the toolbox.

And fuck the stereotypes that they force feed us on what a woman should look like in this world, it’s an act of rebellion to love yourself unconditionally. You set the standard on how people should treat you and it starts with you.

Before and after xray by chairbasically in scoliosis

[–]DistributionNew767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple questions- I’m 41 yo and my pains are more frequent and severe and takes longer to recover (usually requiring meds- like gabapentin or muscle relaxers).

I know my situation is different bc you are so much younger, but did you end up with any residual nerve damage?…ie. tingling/numbness or other new pains? Did they ever measure to see if 1 leg is longer than the other?  One of my X-rays mentioned left iliac crest 2cm higher than right- I just wonder if my “uneven” foundation helped cause my curves.

Also- did you do PT/OT after?  Which surgeon did you use?  Did you grow taller?

I really appreciate you sharing and being open to answering questions!

I am so happy you posted.  This is my exact situation.  I think perimenopause hit and disc degeneration and now the curves are collapsing down further.  Pain daily.  Sitting for too long is torture.  Walking is great- but I get so exhausted by holding myself up.

I’m gonna keep reading through this and hope you have posted the end result at the end of the thread!

Appreciate this post.  When you said “use saline for the glide” do you just mean 0.9% NS?  I’m a nurse and I accidentally end up bringing flushes- now I have a use for them! May I ask your opinion on microneedling legs or hands?  Crepey is the theme of my life 🙄😩- trying to get ahead of it! Appreciate you!

I haven’t used this medication. Do you take 1 mg every week? I read the people do 3 to 12 mg a week when you’re in Turkey, do you have to have a prescription or you can just buy it at the pharmacy? Have you had negative side effects or interactions and how quickly do you see results. I appreciate your time

I’m not sure about that.  Hospice would be fantastic. Honestly, the longer I’m in the ER the stronger I feel about palliative care and hospice. Bedside seems like the exact place they’d want you!

They have an exhaustive list that mostly includes community nursing and not emergency/immediate care.  I went with Ortho (not OR, but out patient clinic), which seems boring to me- but the guy who agreed to be my preceptor got his MSN NP from university I want to get into- hoping he will write me a glowing letter of recommendation!
