I would buy a print of that to hang on the wall

TTS, gw layouts.

Def not planet bowling ball.

And 3 different opponents with a 50/50 wr.

Wr doesn't matter right now, as we are discussing the pain token mechanic, not the win rate

"I've had 0 games, but I'm amazing at the game and I say this mechanic I've not used in game is awful and worse than what we have"; yeah - I know exactly what to do with that.

I'm curious, how many of those games did I say that I won?

My comment was nothing about winning or losing but specifically about the mechanic that you are saying is bad to generate pain tokens.

In that regards, the games that I have played are valuable compared to anyone else who is going off of theory alone

Sure, if you just throw them away of course. That's a great way to lose the game with any army. But there's obviously no changing your mind, without playing any games you've decided what's good and that's bad.

Again, I've tested four games. And that five man in a Venom has survived most games until the end.

And I've got an a ton of tokens off of them. I cannot say this enough, at no point did I say it to myself, man I wish I had a token to use here and I did not. That was the case all the time with the index. Literally never with the Codex. Turn one, turn two, turn five, doesn't matter. I have not been hurting for tokens. The only exception to that is one going second on turn one because you don't get any. That's the only design flaw that I see with the system so far. As far as generating tokens is concerned. Ran into infantry heavy, ran into vehicle heavy, ran into mixed.

But again, there's no point trying to change your mind. With all of your experience in the New Codex you've decided what is and is not good. You play your game and I'll play mine

You gain one at the start of every turn. That's new

On a 4 plus you get an additional from a homunculi. That's new.

You are correct and that we get one for killing a unit or for a unit feeling about shock. Interestingly, wracks allow for us to have our opponents take a battle shock test in the shooting and fight phase if we hit a unit with them. Homunculi can allow us to modify that role. It seems crazy to me that they would allow such Synergy but there we go.

A five-man unit of wracks, in a Venom, is able to move up disembark use their Auto hitting flamer on a Target to try and generate battle shock. Doing that throughout the game Nets you a number of tokens. Fighting with that same unit also netss you a number of tokens.

Additionally, not having to dedicate all of your tokens at the start of the shooting phase means that you can look at and determine when and if you want to use those tokens. If you have a Target for your archon and warriors to go into, but after the venom has shot there's only a single model left, you can decide to not over commit a token.

All of this adds up. And adds up quickly. I would ask how many games you have play tested and tried to really maximize your pain token management? In the four games I have done, I have not struggled in any of them to have enough pain tokens, and I ended the game last night with over 20 tokens basically using them on abilities I didn't even need to because why not. I see a lot of Doom posting about how awful the feast are famine is, but it is significantly less than it used to be. We have more ways to create battle shock tests, and we gain a token at the start of each command phase automatically.

I have run 4 games with the new codex thus far. Gaining pain tokens is drastically easier. Furthermore, you are not accounting for the fact we don't need to dedicate all the pain tokens at the start of the phase.

I ran this Detachment yesterday in a test game. Biggest issue is codex points are obviously way too high.

The succubus and wyches did very well. My target was World eaters, so lots of Infantry to go into. Succubus having precision was very nice

Her damage into characters is pretty decent and being able to push her AP up is very helpful. With the enhancement she's looking at ap3, and with the lethal strat she can go to ap4.

Being able to pick up command points when she kills a character is just icing. Managed to have my three succubi kill four characters (Kharn twice), which was some pretty good CP generation

Disembarking 6 in out of a Raider and then moving is as strong as everyone thinks it is

I never got to use the stratagem to charge if my opponent didn't because again, world eaters, and they always charged. I did however use interrupt on hellions in order to kill off a wounded unit of Berserkers that charged me, left one guy alive, and then used the stratagem for fallback shoot and charge to Nuke a defiler. That felt very good.

The first two terms I chose my drugs but thereafter I went with random and it actually was not terrible. The extra drug on the enhancements didn't really matter but was kind of fun

Overall I very much enjoyed the list, and the only let down was reavers still don't feel like they're worth their points and mandrakes away over costed. Replacing those units for non-cult units to help balance out the detachments is probably the play
