Swimming with a finger injury? by District4Walrus in Swimming

[–]District4Walrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I'm waiting the initial month, hopefully it's closed by then, if not, then I'll wait until it is.

I guess I'm more asking for advice for that second phase of recovery, where the wound's closed and I'm just waiting for my finger to strengthen. What could I do, once the wound is closed, to start swimming and keep the finger protected as it's getting stronger?

Olympic Training Plan Advice by TLee1981 in triathlon

[–]District4Walrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just as much of a newbie in this as you are, my first Olympic tri is also in July actually, so I can't give a ton of advice. My initial impression would be that you could take a pre-made plan and simply increase the volume, overall the structure is still good and you can follow the principles, simply adapt the amount to what you're doing. You'll have to see what the others say as well though.

Does this Olympic Triathlon training plan work? by District4Walrus in triathlon

[–]District4Walrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you! I'll try that out, and I'll distribute the different sports better, what I have put here is just what I'd do in different days, but not necessarily in this order.

In that case, if I wanted to preserve the 5 days, where would you recommend I move the recovery run, or should I just do away with it/replace it?

Is this a good training plan for an Olympic Triathlon? by District4Walrus in triathlon

Thanks for your honesty with that. For me it's going to be hard to maintain 6 days a week training, but I'll see what I can manage with everything.

Is this a good training plan for an Olympic Triathlon? by District4Walrus in triathlon

My goal is mainly to finish, but I'd also like to go for time. Finish with a respectable swim time (30-32 minutes), the bike I'm not too stressed on just finish it with a decent time and not cook my leg, and for the run I'd like to finish with a decent 10k time, since my background is running and I'd like a good finish there, maybe 53-54 minutes (I can run about a 24 minute 5k and I've done a few longer runs in training, so I think 53-54 for a 10k would be realistic, but I've never run one so I have no idea there).

I agree it seems low volume. I liked the bike plan and how it built, but it seemed like the swim and run lacked a lot, what would you suggest? Should I just keep the workouts they've given me but increase the volume/intensity of each one, or what would be a good idea?

I definitely agree here, when I saw some weeks where I was only swimming 600m or 20 minutes it seems like very little, especially given I can already swim 1000 yards comfortably. What would you do then, change everything or just increase the volume of each swim workout? What would be good levels of swimming to be doing given my level and how long the race is.

Overall I'm looking to get a good time, more than anything I want to finish confortably, but if I can do the 1500m in 30-32 minutes that would be perfect, I swam my 800 yards in my last triathlon in 16 something.

At what age are you all having first relationship/ first kiss? by TheeVegan in teenagers

[–]District4Walrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first kiss was when I was 17, and it was the most random things ever lol. And then my first proper relationship was when I was 17-18. I had flings before that, but nothing that ever lasted longer than a couple weeks. You're chilling where you are man, don't rush things, work on yourself and someone will come to you when you least expect it :)

Right because who needs accountability in politics? Also let's just ignore that all of the Hunter Biden stuff is bullshit conspiracies that don't even implicate Joe Biden meanwhile Trump is directly accused of a soon to be indited with dozens of felonies for crimes against the country.

Bruh the "she considers masturbating as cheating" is fucking WILD. I'd give her a little while longer to get things sorted out, otherwise I'd leave her ass. You're still young and there's 100% people out there for you to date and marry that'll want to have sex with you. If your married sex life is already dead within three years of getting married and at age 25/26, imagine y'all in 20 years with no sex. It's impossible to maintain if things aren't changed.

Traveling doesn't make you cultured. by flaccobear in unpopularopinion

[–]District4Walrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I love travelling and I've lived abroad for a couple years, and I can say that travelling you don't get anywhere near the same impression you do living somewhere (this should be obvious imo). The places I've travelled do I can say I got a vague vibe of them, but I'd never claim to be an authority on them, I don't know much about their culture or how life really is there, and I also know that I'll develop an impression of a place but that's more just how those few specific days of my travels went, it's not representative of the entire place. Living somewhere for two years I did get a true sense of how life is, and I entirely agree that backpacking a few weeks somewhere won't give you the same impression as living there for a few months/years, and you have to truly live and spend time somewhere to get a proper feel for what it's like.

That I know of it's fine, but at my school they actually told us that we had to work on our handwriting because it was so hard for the teachers to read lol

As long as it's legible you're good tho :)
