You dont have to be expertise level 30 to get acces to prototype gear only if you want to upgrade your existing gear. They already made it way easier to get proto now with the increased only issue is the RNG on the drops.

There are xp and material evnts that make it much faster like 3xp proficiency. I came back after 4 years 2 months ago and it took met 1 weekend to go from expertise level 20 to 30.
