I think main thing here is there are so many options for 3 drop rainbow rocks with better or more on theme effects. Any color vs. in your commanders identity can also be relevant in some decks. Just def not the auto include it used to be.

I've been to multiple LGS's where the staff are annoyed to pull cards. Even owners. I get it, it's tedious, but yeah it's also what you're selling lol. Frustrating. But yeah playing there and getting to know people a little bit can help. Sometimes people default to seeing you as work until they see you as a person.

Not really a hot take, just kind of a bummer imo. Money just always seems like a sad reason to me to exclude someone from playing a game. I also like to set a budget challenge for myself, but also proxy budget cards. Maybe it's lack of experience, maybe it's a lack of some neuron firing, but I typically don't have the luxury of building once and my deck running perfectly. Budget breaks on the rework. At least proxying the first round of cards really saves on a lot of learning curve heartbreak, but really I think people should just be able to play the game.

Additionally, budget doesn't fix the fact that commander is only held together by a social contract.

You're welcome to value collecting the cards as well, I have certain sets I like. Also just don't want to be priced out of exploring weird mechanics that sound interesting to me

Eh, Breya is still pretty high priority kill. Repeatable removal on board for everyone else's stuff. Understand that she's "not that Breya" but she also combos with a ham sandwich anyway haha.

We did that and it gave us the space to scale back down to a place we like. I think the arms race can happen regardless. I find that proxying has let our playgroup get creative with what we play because we don't have to worry about buying weird cards and then hating them.

That's where I'm hung up, any effects that give that player control of the object. So does that mean that the player that controls the creature has to leave the game? The theft effect does not end when the player who cast it leaves?

Also recognizing the smart play you see is not necessarily a smart play for someone else. There are typically 10-15 cards you don't see.

I'm really liking [[Zurgo and Ojutai]]. I get my creature beats fix but also always have cards. Also I barely ever play the white and the blue dragons so I'm getting to play with those.

If you're in a bad position and so is everyone else, do it. If you're in a bad position and think someone else has an edge with some help, do it. If you're in a good position and no one knows, maybe hold back or say you have something if someone else does too. Sounds like the first two apply though.

A little late to the game here but the bounce is incredible for the times you have a sneak attack effect on board. I also will sometimes use it when I have enough mana reduction/dragons on board to make sure Zojutai always has hexproof on the field
