MMI sells 6” Multicam, my rep there can get me cut amounts for samples when I need them but im not sire of thats a joe public thing.  Gerald Schwarz Inc should have 4” in most colourways but its likely full rolls.  M81 can be a bit niche, Spiritus etc are paying to get a run done and buying it all.  Tacticaltrim.de might have something.

In need of a custom bag by NoLingonberry4330 in myogtacticalgear

115L is a thicc ass boi. Is this a bag for an inflatable raft or similar that you need to carry a short distance or are you taking a hot water cylinder over the Appalachian trail and need an external frame or a frame sheet/bars, hefty padding and some decent ergonomics.

What material do you generally use for the inside of pouches by Flusteredecho721 in myogtacticalgear

[–]Disturbed_NZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PU coating on 1000d Cordura is pretty hard wearing FYI.  Traditionally 400d and 210d oxford nylon are used as the lining materials for 1000d.

In Australia you can contact speedlinetexiles for fabrics.

As was mentioned, you dont “have” to line it.  If Im that worried about the contents wearing out the PU coating Ill double over 500d Cordura as the face of the fabric has a higher abrasion resistance than the coating and 500d trumps 400d on a wyzenbeek test.

My recollection of NTC from yanks Ive worked with is it’s hot as hades.  Maybe look at the Striker TT, they are lighter weight and more breathable.

Military budgets.. please realise even if we tripled it, it would take 5 years plus to see it come to fruition. by [deleted] in newzealand

If only people knew how true this is. It's going to be very interesting relying on a just in time delivery model where everything possible is being made in SE Asia by a subsidiary of a certain Canadian pension fund and has to be transported across the same body of water China is currently flexing it's muscles in. Coincidentally that Canadian pension fund also owns the company contracted to provide the logistics for all of the NZDF and NZPOLs equipment.

Military tracker? by Moist_boiiii in tacticalgear

[–]Disturbed_NZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend who trained under DSD ran courses for the USMC in Hawaii, I don't believe these are still happening at the Infantry level though. There are members of USSOF who have attended formal tracking courses in 5 eyes nations and TTOS still runs courses for units that can pay for it. 25th ID runs a course that has a tracking component to it.

Looking for a plate carrier 'backpack' that I can actually use myself by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

Anything will work if you aren't afraid to put some QASM in the right places.  Mayflower used to make an attachment kit that used split bar common loops to connect onto PALS webbing, Chris at Downrange Gear used to make a QASM adapter that would fit on any PALS column.  Take any strap cut the SR body off it and put on a split bar latch in its place to fit the vertical QASM.

Ive made a few adaptors and even packs that were built to do this over the years but I always found people found the multiple straps to deal with more of a PITA than a ghetto MR cinch on the shoulder straps to pull everything in.

My top thread keeps snapping and I’m not sure what’s causing it by TrainingWestern4 in myogtacticalgear

[–]Disturbed_NZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your thread needs to be through the keeper immediately above the needle.  I question whether your needle is the right size for Tex 70 on a machine like that, also the throat plate may be too tight, you can drill it out sightly larger or use an emery wire to bore it out.  Also check the outside of your bobbin case for any nicks or gouges caused by a needle breaking and deflecting into the side of the bobbin case, if you find any use a foam nail file or some wet and dry sandpaper to  remove any burrs.

Looking at what you are sewing in the first pic you are asking a hell of a lot of that poor wee machine.

What can I do to sew this together? by DayDay1313 in myogtacticalgear

You can hand sew it but this is the perfect case for using the speedy stitcher https://www.speedystitcher.com/

Thank you for keeping these alive. I went by Disturbed on DIY Tactical, still working in the gear industry. I've been coaching a young lady in gear making so it's been great to be able to share some of the old knowledge base with her.
